Long story short some thieving pikey b@st@rd has helped themselves to over £1k out of my bank account over the weekend. Now i am fairly sure my debit card hasn't been skimmed so that leaves either the details have somehow been lifted off of my pc or another pc from a company i have used. I cannot do anything about the other pcs that may hold my details but if my pc is infected with some keylogging type software i need to get it removed.

This is where i need suggestions for, preferably free, software that can detect and remove malicious software. I already use AVG, Spyware Doctor, Asquared and AD-Aware so i had hoped my pc was reasonably safe.

Any suggestions for other software would be greatly appreciated.

Already been down and spoken to them, found out at 8.15am the money was missing, was on the bank doorstep at 9am. Apparently there is rock all they can do atm till the money is physically removed from my account, apparently the transactions are "still going through" and as its a debit card they can't stop them  http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/mac124/smilies/banghead.gif

Hopefully they'll be able to sort it when the transactions are completed...

Sorry to hear that, but surely if you've explained to the bank it wasn't you they can cancel the transactions, right?

As for removal I can't help apart from what's been suggested and why can't you do anything about the ones you use in work? explain to them and surely they will HAVE to sort it?

Because its a debit card they can't / wont stop the transations going through.

By companies i have used i mean like buying stuff from Aria using it, but if it has been lifted from a pc then i wager its most likely mine :(.

I am afraid thats not true i nearly always have stuff delivered to work and only once have i had to send a fax to prove that it was an authourised purchase.

I am fairly sure the card wasn't skimmed but can't be 100% :(

I know exactly how you feel matey. I've had around 300 quid of tesco phone topups put through on my debit card by some pesky wobbers. Went to the bank and they said I would have to ring the police and get a crime number before they could pursue it any further. Rang my local bobby and presto i got a crime number there and then, phone the bank up and had my money back within 3 days :D

so you will get the £££ back no problem, I suppose in cases like this the bank has to honour any unauthorised overdraft fees, late payment fees for direct debits etc?

They better otherwise i WILL be taking futher action, problem is they can't / wont do jack till the payments have been authorised. So i can't do anything else for a few days :(.

i presume you've been intouch with the companys where your card's been used
to see if the goods have been shipped?

You might be in luck that they dont actually debit the card till the goods ship and if they havn't they would be able to release the funds there holding and not ship the goods.
