I don't use vista so I didn't know about this UAC but it seems to me like it's for the people that don't know how to keep their computer in check.

When I get enough cash to start my new build I was going to order a copy of Vista Home Premium. Is vista really as bad as people make out? Am I better off sticking the good old XP.

I do like vista, people are very negative about it for minor performance differences.

I bought Vista last year and have been running it ever since.

To me it seems no different in speed to XP, It is heavy on resources, IE is am just running IE with 3 tabs open, AV (avast) MSN and Skype and I am using 770Mb or ram.

Personally I would suggest at least 2Gb of Ram and a dual core processor to get the best from it.

UAC isn't there for no reason, it's just the same as Linux's root user. If you want to change anything then you need to sudo.
I totally agree with what MS has done here, there are so many computer illiterate users.

sounds to me like you need windows steadystate to keep him from changing things...

I just did a reinstall on my desktop of vista 32.

I love the way the UAC pops up when you try to turn it off...Its like a final goodbye:lol:

If they left it off by default then the people who actually need it wouldn't know about it or how to turn it on. The people who realize it can be turned off are those who don't need it

The one thing that gets me about this is acrobat reader, if UAC is off, you can only instal AR by running it in xp compatibility mode!

im in a clan and the amount of clan mates i have who have trouble with games is untrue, and they work fine for me with it off. im sure it does more than it says.
