Hello all!

Looking at a netbook for school use, want 7 hours+ of battery so I don't have to take it to school and a nice keyboard for typing essays.

I went into a PC retailer and found the Samsung netbooks to have significantly nicer keyboards, and slightly better build quality than the competition.

My absolute maximum is £300, which puts the NF210 quite nicely at the top of my budget with the N550 dual core atom.

But what can I get for something cheaper? Between £200 and £250.

The £300 maximum budget is excluding the 2gb RAM upgrade I'll be getting.

I have a Toshiba one and its portable, light and battery life is good!

MSI also do very good netbooks, I had an Acer Aspire One, but a MSI netbook I set up for a friend I much preferred IMO in all aspects, noise, heat, keyboard feel, etc.

Another vote for the Samsung NC10 or its successor the N150 or even the new dual core Samsung N350 which is around £300.

I've got a Dell mini with a single core Atom and it has slowed down LOADS over the last 12 months. A dual core atom should last a bit longer.

Same, I got given one from school and it was slow to begin with...and slower now. My Acer wasn't so bad for a while, but these had the Z520 and N270 respectively. Not sure how much better the N450's are in comparison.

But the Samsung looks like the best bet, the dual core/4 thread atom's look like a good offering too!

Have you considered waiting for AMD's Zacate processors to become more mainstream? That might drive down prices a little.

Aspire ones are nice and speedy, good quality screens. All depends on the budget, but see what you can get in the line of Acer perhaps.

Is the Samsung posted a 6 cell battery? Could really do with one for university.

Just to say if a netbook slows down get 2gig ram. Had mine from Dec 2009 and is still running like a gem after heavy use (4 hours minimum at school every day plus homework!)

I'm guessing you'll be using a mouse? The touch pads on the Aspire D150/D250 are not good at all, but if you're using a mouse it doesn't matter.

How you finding the samsung N150 plus now that you have had some time to play with it? I'm considering getting the same as I'd like to start messing around with Linux again. This would fit the bill nicely, what sort of battery life you getting out of it?
