I think my 6800GT seems to be about to die! BTW it is NOT and has not been overclocked

Never seen anything like that before.

OH forgot to mention, I have removed the cooler, cleaned off the TIM and reaplied AS Ceramique. Made no difference, and the fan is running. tried Riva tuner to set fan to 100% no difference.
the gfx has gone, thats an artifact so that means its overheating.
It's really strange. I would ask if all your other components are working ok, but you wouldn't get this problem if they weren't. How long have you had the card for? Time to get a new one perhaps.
This is only a graphical problem and is because of overheating.

well its a few years old, it was running in my server, its a Leadtek card, and has a massive copper coloured rear heat sink on it.
I have also tried both an NV silencer and Acceloro but the same issue, so to the bin it will be going.
RIP
looks like it's memory's on it's way out. Higher end cards of that age don't tend to last majorly long from what I've found.
Until I opened the thread I thought it was your 8800GT on it's way out!
It just started doing this out of the blue?

Sorry Lynx got to disagree with you there.

Is it worth getting another 6800? when you could get a lower one for even less, it's only for displaying a desktop right?
Off topic
Mac £150?!? that's low, whats the conditionlike ?
^^^so do i (2nd quote)
you could use rivatuner to under clock the ram but thats only a temp measure till you can replace it as the degredation will contiune at the slower speed but it may slow it down.
To be frank, with display corruption like that in 2D, regardless of what you underclock the RAM to it won't be stable by any stretch of the imagination. Bin + el-cheapo graphics card to be honest. A used 7600GT or 8500GT could be had fairly cheap.
Bin FTW its royally rodgered, totally. Elcheapo POS card just to tide you over till something better comes along.

Pretty much as new, bar some dust, oh and lacking original packing.

Lol, I dug through my spares bin and found an old x300, its in and running!
x300s are fantastic cards :)
i found one for £12 and it ran vista better than my 6600gt :)
Which suffered the same fate as your card :( -- so i gave it away and let it be someone elses problem :)

Well I emailed Leadtek on the off chance that this thing may be covered by a lifetime warranty, They have requested a Serial No.
The thing is that it may not be worth following up on this line as this card has a huge heatsink on the rear which maked the whole card weighs about 3 lbs and cost of postage won't be much less than the value of the card

Shame, it's a great card, I have the AGP version :)

dont bin it , just pop it on ebay as 'untested therfor presumed faulty'
will net you about a tenner
Shame, it's a great card, I have the AGP version :)Me too, and its still going! :O
Bizzare that chaning the O/S has fixed it- and it's got me worried as my 7900GT does similar things (video game models are rendered in black or are way out of proportion, some even hang; but I also have pink dots on screen = artifacts?) and I've assumed it's just the GFX card so I've ordered an 8800GT.
I'll be gutted if it turns out to be the Antec PSU and I've just wasted £140 on an un-needed graphics card update :(
