View Full Version : looking for cheap gaming case
nothing to fancy just a nice gaming case under £40 inc p&p but big enough to have two 8600gt's or something in it
must have a side fan though
doesnt need to have a psu cause im getting another one anyway
some lights would be nice though
Take a look at 16834 - seems to fulfil your basic requirements...
See my review on that case.
If I'm being really honest, I'd suggest you find a few more pounds and get something a bit more worthwhile in the long run. Many find the X-Blade case quite satisfactory but I don't think it's worth it's price given it's build quality, the plastic'y chrome on the front, obnoxious (imo) blue lighting and sharp edges inside
Thermaltake Soprano Case w/ Window

I've owned this case in black for about 18 months. Again, generally you have to pay a premium to find gaming cases of comparable quality to their standard counterparts this one's quite good. It'll nail the X Blade in terms of cooling performance and noise with it's 21dB front and rear 120mm fans and the 21dB 92mm side fan, compared to the high rpm 80mm led fan on the X Blade. Once you fill the X Blade up with similar fans, the overall cost is roughly the same.
A case is something that you don't want to have to change later on. It's something that should outlast the internal components and compliment the other appliances and equipment in the room without standing out like a sore thumb.
That's my opinion anyway.
the x-blade was 1 i was looking at but isnt there 1 in black
i was also looking at this 1

Looks alright but it's not brilliant. Your call as to whether you like it or not obviously
How about

I'd have to go with Mul. on this one the nzxt case is a nice case and would be a better build quality than the x-blade and the ferrari cases.
I was going to say that case as well..so thats a +3 so far on the NZXT casse
ok will the ocz 700w psu be more than capable of handling 2 8600gt
or even yo 96000gt
Absolutely. Nice PSU's those OCZ's are.
Also if you're wondering 8600GT SLI or single 9600GT, it's 9600GT or 8800GT any day of the week. There isn't much point buying two lower midrange cards in an attempt to make it perform like a single card. The single card will perform more consistently in every game and resolution than lower midrange cards in SLI :)
ok thanks i i'll get the 9600gt now i no that :P

Why not look at the 8800Gt Superscpecial, same sort of price as the 9600Gt
Very true. 64 more stream processors and 4 more ROPs. Can't go wrong with that :)

Erm 48 more shaders not 64 more!
Yes I did, my apologies. True evidence that men cannot multitask.
If you want decent quality but low cost then check out the Akasa Zen, ok no flashy lights etc but its build quality belies its price bracket.

I'd agree with that suggestion if he doesn't mind a non side windowed, led, gaming case. I used an Akasa Zen for a friend's Socket AM2/3800/7600GT build about a year ago and it's brilliant for the money. The front panel is plastic but it's tooless drive cage works well, has plenty of space, no sharp edges and here was the biggest surprise for me. It came with two 120mm case fans, front and rear. Both were RPM controllable via motherboard headers and other than the colour, resembled the Akasa Amber fans known to be quiet. It's a lot of case for just £29. :)
if ur on a rly tight budget just keep the motherboard in the box and plug everything in:lol:
