View Full Version : Chelsea trying to buy Torres
Chelsea have bid around 40 million for Torres.
Liverpoll reject the offer but Torres has asked that Liverpool listen to what Chelsea has to say.
Apparently Torres feels when he joined Liverpool he was promised greatness from the club and he thinks it isn't happening.
40 mil ffs they should flog him now.
Waiting out for £50,000,000
They must be mad. He is a good striker and they must be mad to pay 40 million for him he ain't that good.
probably holding out for 45 ish million
good money to be honest, injury prone but that might just be that he dosent want to play for liverpool so the smallest knock he says he's not fit

Not too sure on the fee. Some papers are saying £60 mil.
He's said he wouldn't mind going and urged Liverpool to consider the bid.
Some Spanish dude was on sky sports news saying £35 million got turned but £50 million might happen.

As a liverpool fan i have to say yes he is a great player and his injuries have been genuine.
But if he dont want to play for us then fine go.
50+ million we would be soft not to accept.
we could buy another 2 players with that,
players that would last for more than a quarter of the season unlike torres.
You could get 3 or 4 for that if you don't waste it.

true.
and in depth is where we are lacking so if it meant we could use all the funds on new players then yes let him go
It really does depend which site you read, I suspect the majority of it being speculation. The £50million figure that has been touted as a release in Torres contract according to the `pool is a fabrication, and having now got Torres a strike partner in Suarez for 26.5million euros, I think the Chelsea bid was speculative and cheeky. Note it was made before the Suarez deal was confirmed and I think was Chelsea trying to say "here's the cash to buy Suarez and Adams".
I honestly can't get over the people with the opinions of doesn't want to play, poor injury record etc etc. The guy was playing just like he is now in the World Cup, he's 11th top scorer in the Prem and has scored more with the FOUR forwards that play for Spurs. He's an Anfield legend.

81 goals in 141 games is enough to shut the ****'s who always criticise strikers.
You dont win anything by selling your top players, unless you're Man Utd and grow your own and win everything with them instead, even then they had to buy big along the way.
Every club who have succeeded in the PL have had a spine of quality, Torres is part of LFC's spine and to sell him would seriously undermine any attempts to rebuild.
That said, if i was in charge and a player told me he wants to listen to offers, id be telling the suitors a price and getting rid of him, no point keeping anyone who isnt commited.
He's starting to look interested again. Time to keep him and pair him up with Suarez. What a front two that is, there isn't many teams in the world with that kind of talent up front.

Torres hands in transfer request and has it rejected.

oooooh surely if he's not sold now the fans will turn on him
for that sort of money let him go.
tbh, Liverpool problems havent really been scoring, its the rest of the pitch thats let them down (for the most part)
Take the cash on offer, get someone decent to partner the new signing, and realise that this season is a write off, scraping into a European place is all you can expect (whilst hoping for more)
Liverpool need to remove he reliance of the team on Gerrard, £40m will help to do this.
Until the time when Liverpool dont crumble if one of their 'spine' is missing then they will struggle to reach the potential that we do see from time to time.
I think when a player expresses his desire to leave, you might as well sell them.
Will Torres now be as commited to the team if he doesn't leave? or will his form dip again.
Sell Torres and buy Robbie Keane (again) ha ha
He is likely to get loads of stick from the fans if he stays.
Or is it a ploy to get a better contract like Rooney did at Man Utd?
torres hasn't been on form for over a year now and no break last summer has shown. 35m is the figure I heard they turned down as when he is on form (you know he will get it back before this season is over) he is worth much much more.
50m well that kind of money is more like it and tbh if he wants to go let him, but for the right price. chelski need someone as drogba is showing his age nowadays and who else is there?
only a couple of the calibre but the big thing is do they want to come to live in England? not all of them do but he already is.

I was talking about this today, and in all honesty - Chelsea are showing their age, not just individuals in the team. I wouldnt choose to go there, as there is no sustainable plan by the looks of it.
As a liverpool fan its been far from my favourite deadline day, highlight was this text from a mate of mine
"Torres to Chelsea deal breaks down after John Terry fails to agree terms with Torres' wife!!"
Carroll on his way to Liverpool for £35m.
Interesting...

Aww Hell no, this better be a false rumour...

Well they had a £30m offer turned down and it definitely looks like £35m will be paid for him if Torres leaves. Very poor buying if you ask me, Bent at £18 + addons is looking very good now.

I highly doubt it's actually £35m. They've probably added on some random add ons and potential bonuses. That **** Mike Ashley is capable, and that way he might just get away without justifying why he was sold.
Not sure its the right club for Carrol unless liverpool change their style of play i thought carrol would be better suited to a team that plays with wingers. Spurs or if someone would lend my team the money :) then man utd !
£35m alot of money for a player with 6months premiership experience.
news is now it is £35m offered, but that newcastle have said no!
I've said similar in the transfers thread.
Torres is going to Chelsea just not announced yet.
It is official now though, argh it burns me on the inside.
It is going to kill me on Sunday watching him play against us.
Chelsea announced that they are finally in the black for the first time in the Abramovich era: announcement on the club website (http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268%7E2281149,00.html)
Spending £73M on two players is one hell of a way to celebrate, The signing of Luiz makes a lot of sense, although I still wince at the £23M + Matic price. However, Torres? and £50M??? I don't really understand it, Aguero and/or a quality winger would surely be a better fit to the needs of the squad. I thought Drogba must be going to Madrid, but that hasn't happened.
you seem to forget didis age, hes no spring chicken anymore and the prem is pretty much all about pace. he got off to a good start this year but he had most of the summer off while the rest of the big players where in the wc till the later stages so they havent had much of a rest.
i can see him going to italy me, he would suit that style of game and thery have better tax rates now that spain has changed their laws on the big earners.
