ok guys i need to paint my front lip spoiler on my saab
anyone got any tips or knowledge on how to get a good spray job done ?
is it on the car already painted, or is it a new part in primer?
if its already painted and you want the same colour key the surface of the paint using fine grit wet and dry sand paper, then wash the area to be panted, apply paint, in about 3-4 fine coats (more fine coats the better).
if its in primer do the same.
if its bare plastic key the surface with fine sand paper (if its metal skip that), depending on what colour your spraying you will need some primer, grey or white primer apply in thin coats, until surface is completely covered in paint (allow to dry between coats. then follow what i said above. then if you want a shine on it spray a few fine coats of lacquer over the painted surface.
the more thin coats the better, make sure it drys between coats.
then after a few days allowing the paint to set, use some car body work rubbing compound to rub out any imperfections.
I repaired the rusty doors on my old escort with a grinder, some metal mesh, fibreglass paste, body filler, and painted using the above steps.. come out looking very nice indeed!!
:P
hope that helps?
