Personally I don't use BT but for those that do:-

They throttle on Virgin, but only if you download excessively during peak times.

I am on sky and use the mule, no throttling, when I occasionally get a full DVD (4.3Gb) I get between 600 and 1500Kbps.

Kbps or KBps? I get 2MBps, about 16Mbps.

This is not bittorrent communications but....

> > During the hours of 4pm till 9pm virgin media will allow me to download 3GB (and upload 1250MB) before the limit the speed from 20mbps down to 5mbps.

I receive max of 2.4MB/s (19.2mbps) when using torrents and speed is not limited.

I am on virgin's lowest internet 2mb afaik, and can't upgrade until next September due to a stupid bundle deal

Ring them. They might be able to adjust the bundle deal changing just the broadband speed.

We tried cancelling film and sport and upgrading the internet costing like £2 more a month and they refused

They are to the end of the road then it's back to normal. Luckily I'm not too far from the corner of my road and from the exchange either, so when i upgrade I should get decent speeds

Virgins cable service does not throttle bittorrent, but their ADSL service, bought wholesale from BT does, as do almost all BT based ISP's.
