First Build

Hi was wondering if you guys could guide and advise me on my build.Have a foxconn mars mobo 4gb ocz pc2-6400 vista performance gold and waiting for Q6600 processor.Qestion and i know its daft but when i get round to connecting a dvd writer should it be connected via PIDE and can i also use an ide hard drive until i can get a sata drive just so i can get up and running with machine? Thanx for any help it'll me most appreciated:)

Yes you can use a dvd drive and hard drive on one IDE cable, although you need to set the jumpers to slave and master although I've never done this before. I just set it in the BIOS.

Or you can use cable select. HDD on the last connector then the DVD drive on the second last connector.

wanted to be sure as i said its my first build.Have got a spare dvd and ide HDD but wasn't 100% sure if that was where they were connected until i can get sata dvd and HDD.Have updated parts on machine i'm using at moment but that was straight part swaps.Thanx for advice it's really appreciated
