View Full Version : Spec me an eyefinity desk
Both me and a mate are looking for eyefinity set ups in the next few months but were having a spot of trouble finding a decent desk thats big enough to set up 3x22" monitors or 3x24" monitors.
Ideally it would need to be around 175-200cm long and 60cm deep.
Any recommendations that are reasonably prices (<£100)?

Mount monitors on wall and use current desk, thats what im doing and its saves me throwing away a perfectly good desk.
not an option as i live in a new house and every wall is plasterboard :(
You can use hollow wall anchors on their own in drywall.
You could also mount the three stands to one suitable 'plank' and fix that to the wall, spread the load.
For my kitchen wall cabinets i used 4 inch screws that had a full length plug, i drilled through to the brick behind and bridged the gap with the plug through to the unit.
Or, get a length of worktop to suit, wall anchor and no-nail a support rail to the wall, get suitable legs and make your own desk. Ikea do some nice solid wood tops

you can still wall mount on plasterboard
Find the two vertical uprights in the wall
Attach a piece of 18mm ply to across the two uprights..fix monitor bracket to the wood.
Ikea have a cool piece of black glass you can buy for £60 then add stands to it.
Looks pretty good.
most office desks are 1800mm, so you should have a nice picking.

in Manchester? (Wythenshawe to be exact)
I'll ask BarkhamOfficeFurniture tomorrow if they know someone up that way, an 1800desk with decent leg system needs to be sent on a pallet, and at £60 a time for pallet deliveries it puts it out really on your budget.
Avoid the thin tops, at that length they will buckle and for three monitors, sound setup etc cable management is a must :)

At that budget, I think straight is about all you will get, there are some nice wave desks that eyefinity would look the business on, the maple managers desk (http://www.barkhamofficefurniture.co.uk/used/desks/executive/udesks_exec.php)on this page for instance :)
The other option, is kitchen worktop, I've seen it done

Only 150 long but it should be fine for 3 22" monitors
