lol yeah, but i mean more like, if users of the forum were likely to sell something?
instead of using ebay, they could give the users of the aria forums priority first?
just a thought anyway, i understand it would be taking money away from aria, so i guess thats why there aint one already.
o well.
A member's selling forum would be a good idea so long as Aria can see that they aren't held responsible for any dodgy dealings and that components aren't being sold at a profit (i.e.- buying a set of ram on special offer on Aria for £30 and when that offer is over, selling it for £35 on the forum for example).
I'd be up for it as personally I don't like dealing with ebay. Selling on tech forums generally means I'll be selling components to fairly techwise people who aren't likely to break it by accident during installation then demand a refund. Forum members just tend to be more reasonable in general, even when things go wrong.
Unless Aria take a cut and do all the paperwork etc?
Think we Aria bods have enough to do already ;)
I have suggested this in the past, when it was refused due to the infancy of the forum and relatively low user numbers, and quite recently again but as yet have had no response either way.
I have recently used a different forum for selling my ipod and agree it's much easier and better than e/bay.
not too sure if it would fit in with the aria way. as the forum i used was not a etailer but was just a forum for information.

I would like to see this too! I have loads of old bits about to go on the next Fleabay cheap day.
Yeah, it can work quite well. I've bought a few bits from Mac now, and its always gone smoothly.. ;) :D
But when it was talked about before, I think the general feeling was that Aria could be in a position of being liable for anything that went wrong if the sale was initiated on their forum.
Indeedy Aaron :D
It works for possibly the biggest, certainly in the uk, online IT based community linked to an etailer that i know of so i don't see why it couldn't work here with the right rules / regulations.
The main thing you have to remember that any deals done are done solely between the two parties involved and that Aria has nothing to do with said dealings.

Second that idea...
The other thing is, with the more tech savvy, you are much less likely to pay over the odds as people are more aware of the value of these items...
But on the other hand if you're selling things you want as much as you can get for them :)
I dont think it would be a good idea. We could make it work but it would need a few mods to keep an eye over it. The current ones are running ragged as it is so Aria would need more!
On a few forums im on they have a ebay link section. Just to post the link of the items your selling:)

Why don't you think it would be a good idea? I think it would more or less run itself once a few ground rules are in place, but obviously some moderation will be required but that shouldn't be very much at all.
I agree. It'll need some moderation but seeing that Aria wouldn't hold any responsibility towards the transactions, very little intervention would be required other than petty things like not stating a price, mention of competitors, excessive bumping etc.
You could make paypal a must?
Some people just don't like paypal and refuse to use it, why i don't know i have never had any issues and have used it dozens of times. Payment method is best left to the two parties involved imho. Personally i would ONLY use paypal to pay other people with as you do have some form of security but i would accept direct payment into my bank account (i don't have online banking so i personally cannot pay that way). I would also accept cash in the post at senders own risk as long as it was sent by some form of postage that required a signature.

Postal orders are good when sent recorded delivery
You ever paid by postal order, i did once, never again it costs a bloody fortune to have one made out.

Cost me £2
I'm going to spam aria staff until i get an answer to this... (starting Monday) :P
Think I'll do the same, Cleggy :D
Good idea i have a quality case surpless to requirements and i really rather not auction it, and i just checked and Aria don't sell it.
Annoying thing is you never know what some berk on ebay is going to do with it once they receive it. Someone might've accidently scratched it while installing components, broke something by force and then claim it was like that when it arrived. On the other hand sometimes it's a risk to take due to the prices people will pay for things on there.
I've said this before but I'd just like to say again that I genuinely think that techs on forums are more reasonable than many on ebay. At least in a community like this, I don't see any problems.

Well I have just been out and collected a 15" lcd monitor that was sold as having a mark on the screen, Paid a whole £11 for it. Got it home, the mark is a small shadow where someone has pushed the screen in, it is almost invisible! The best thing is the screen is on a rotating/height adjustable stand and has a dvi input as well as a D-sub, although as i use it on a KVM this is useless for me.
Goes with my other bargains, a boxed unused Antec Atlas case £11.50, A ThermalRock Eclipse Case £27 (they were about £95 at the time)
Haha looks as though you've got a good eye for bargains. I havn't had a major bargain since £17 AMD 64 3700+'s hitting 3.0GHz without much extra on the volts. Ah, that good old 939 machine.

The Antec was the best one came with a 550W true power PSU, which I sold for £50 :D
That's really good. In 2006 I got my Sonata II case along with a 450W PSU for £20, all brand new. That was too good a deal to sell on and landed up ditching my Thermaltake. Silence for the win :)

Well I collected the case yesterday,
Wow this thing is huge, and heavy. Paint has a couple of very minor scratches. It cam with a floppy drive and an internal/external Icybox Card reader 4 Nexus 120MM fans and Foam sound deadening.
Not sure if I am going to keep it or pass it on.

lol, I have removed the nexi (?!) and the card reader :) which are heading for my 3d aurora, (card reader is already in after a mod to the usb lead so that it now runs from the motherboard headers.
I may keep the case and swap out my ThermalRock Eclipse, The eclipse is a nice case but is a little cramped. Either that or I may trade in my Antec Atlas as that uses 92MM fans, so in theory the Silverstone should be a little quieter.
Just 'bay'd a Dreamcast :)
1 x Dreamcast
2 x Controllers
2 x Memory VMU thingys for the controllers
1 x steering wheel
12 x games
£45 quid :) Not bad for playing Bus Simulators on

Well I have decided not to use the TJ05.
Started to transfer my system out of my 3D Aurora into the TJ,
I could not get the system tidy in any way. It's at times like this that I realise how good the 3d Aurora is for cable management!
