Right, shortly I'll have 2GB more RAM so need a 64bit OS, yeah?
I though XP is growing old and I'll end up switching to Vista in the future anyway so why not now. I was wondering is it worth £35 more to get Business over Basic? What do i loose?
Thanks
Home Premium is the only vista worth going for.
dont get basic or business

Ah, didn't see premium inbetween them. Looks like I'll go with that
I have never seen the poing in a 64bit OS. Appart from the RAM side of it.
Theres not point if you go from 2gb to 4gb on 64 actually, just get 32 bit vista, as it has a patch to support the extra ram. The increase in size of items in the ram means that you are gaining a very small advantage compared to going from 3gb to 6gb.

ultimate ?
peter i have only 4gb too , but use XP32 and vista ultimate 32 with no probs

32 is like £2 more or something, and saves messing about
Wasnt there some problems with the 64 and some drivers?

64 bit allows faster processing for programs needing to handle large numbers + along with other things.
32 bit processors can handle 64bit+ numbers but take longer to process them as its not done all in one cycle.
Most software doesn't make MUCH use of the 64bit aspect but there are some software that do.
