At the moment I am connecting to the internet via a Wireless Adapter I bought, the problem with this is that I'm so far from the router that I barely get a signal and its extremely laggy for playing games with.

I can't connect via ethernet as that would mean running cables all throughout my house.

Does anyone know any solutions that would help if not speed up my internet?

powerline adapters work wonders if you can use them

id recommend looking into them

Gaming on wireless will always fail, Do what The limeman says or get a long ethernet cable

Homeplugs/Powerplugs :thumb: seem to be pretty popular lately.

Other than that all i would suggest is upgrade your wireless Antenna and get an internal Wireless Card.

I've heard about people making up a "dish" of aluminium (kitchen) foil to reflect the wireless signal from the router's antenna toward their laptop... worth a try ;)

Seconded on the powerline adapters though, they rock :thumb:

If I was to get Powerline adapters how would they run with one on an extention cable downstairs and the 2nd on an extention cable upstairs, I'm very limited to plug sockets so it wouldn't be able to get one for itself. :(

the more electrical objects plugged into the higher the interference with the signal

and the slower the speed you get

tbf if you can swap something in a plug for this and put the previous thing on the extension it would be better

but on two extensions your not guaranteed a better connection than you have atm

it also depends on the quality of your wiring

the plugs also need to be on the same circuit otherwise it wont work

Will I be able to max out my internet connection if all that is sorted? Or will it still not recieve the full connection?

or wireless n router and a range expander in the middle?

i would always opt for a cable though no way you can run the cable through the walls or is it a rented house?

you can look into stronger antenna, range extenders (remember they will slow data transfer down though) and directional antenna, which will keep the singal area directed more to where youi may need it..... but, none of the above is likely to be as effective as home-plugs, of course there are various things that can affect these too, but generally they are going to eb more reliable and a lot more stable than the wifi link, i have some Devolo ones, and although i do not favour the software much, i find the home plugs themselves are faultless, powering down as the pc shuts down too
