At the end of this month i will be doing a major upgrade.

How does the below sound and does anyone know of any compatability issues with it.

MSI X38 Platinum Intel X38 Socket 775 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz (Retail 775)
MSI GeForce 9600GT 1GB Overclocked PCI-E
OCZ 2GB PC3-1066 Reaper HPC (2x1GB)

Although im not sure i might get 4gb version of the DDR3 memory.

Thanks

D

looks good but why spoil it with a 9600gt graphics card? surely a 8800gt will be better.
or is it not a gaming machine?

yeah the 1gb gfx cards such as the 9600gt are still not as powerful as an 8800gt which has a lot more bandwidth and a better core.

it is a gaming machine primarily and used for other stuff too.
i was told that the 9600 used part of the 8800 chipset and was practically as good..
If thats not the case i will swap it for an 8800

8800gt 512mb or the 8800gts 512mb are the only cards to buy if buying a new card the 9600gt's are a replacement for the 8600gt and no where near as good.

try this link for some benchmarks....

does it matter on brand of 8800GT or GTS... nvidia, asus, xfx, msi, generic?

Some have higher clocks, but not massively, some have different coolers too. The actual GT and GTS themselves are different though.

nah there all the same cards just with a different sticker on.

except gts and gt as most gts are double slot cards and gt's single slot cards.

the nvidia branded cards on the aria website are generic so will be branded just dont know what till you get it.

there's different flavours whith each brand as some may come pre over clocked.
