Right, I have the following components:-

Xilence 600W gaming PSU (new)
Z-Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLi 775 motherboard (z stock)
8800GT GFX Card (new)

Using these together the mobo gets powers (lights come on), pressing the power switch starts all the fans for 20 seconds and then turns off, the next time you power it on it comes on for 10 seconds, then 5 seconds.

I've tried a different motherboard (asrock) with this PSU and the fan comes on for 2 seconds then turns off (does this every time).

No image at all displays on the screen, not even boot failures. The gfx card is going to be tested in a different machine today but other than that I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.
Any help appreciated.

ps all the parts were bought through aria.

If you need to know the RAM/HD/CPU (2 different ones have been tried already) just let me know.

Hope someone can help.

Have you tested the PSU with another MoBo?

Also - please can you confirm what connections you have from the PSU into the MoBo?

Yup.

IIRC, the 20+4 is plugged in, as well as an 8-pin connection. The gfx card has the 6-pin connection into it.

FYI, the GFX card has now been tested in an alternate PC and works fine. So it's looking between the PSU and Mobo (or both :().

Sorry - I meant to ask if you'd tested the board with a different PSU

Also - was it tested outside the case? Not screwed in...

Nps, I've only got a very old 450W PSU as a spare and it doesn't have the right connectors on it. It's a possibility I could buy a new one but would obviously like to avoid any expense without knowing what the actual issue is. (I appreciate it's hard to diagnose issues from forum threads).

The motherboard was outside the case on a test bench for this.

If your old PSU has a 20pin atx connctor and 4pin 12v - then give it a shot - it may work!

Already tried that, well kind of! The old PSU has a 20 pin, that's fine, but it doesn't have a 4 pin to go alongside it :(

Do aria accept RMAs on items that I *think* are faulty :D If not I'll have to see if anyone at work has an old PSU I can try out.

Reading your other posts you seem to know what you're talking about, what is your initial thoughts on this then - mobo or PSU?

If you have any reason to believe that it's faulty, go for it. I for one reckon it is considering it happened with two different boards. Try and get it replaced for an OCZ StealthXstream 600W or Corsair VX 450/550W PSU

You tested the graphics card in an alternative system, what about testing the psu in it?

It's a possibility, I'm just tempted to go buy a new PSU and see how that goes. I'll let you know if I get it working and what the problem was, cheers for the help all.

My suggestion would be quicker and cheaper

It would be cheaper, but not sure about quicker :D I've got someone at work to let me borrow a PSU from them, they'll be bringing it tomorrow so hopefully by the end of the week I'll know whether that was the problem or not.
