Hi all,

Is anyone here having problems with AOHell? In the last few months I've been unable to connect more than ever before :( In the last month or so there have been two occasions where I've had no internet at all grrrrr

Any ideas...?

I havnt had any problems with virgin media 20mb and always get the full speed.

I hear the tech support is awful though. But as long as you don't need that your good to go

Well, every company will have problems, and Virgin Media has had quite a lot with merging Virgin and Cable and Wireless... The best I have heard of (if a] it is available in your area and b] you aren't one of the few that has problems with them) is BE Broadband. Very quick, very consistent service. Unfortunately only available to a small percentage of the population :(

Edit - WOAH! Just read the thing about Phorm... I already have Tor, and JAP, but because I regularly download and try free software, and do a lot of gaming, it is useless for me half the time... As for the Opt-out clause mentioned, isn't that illegal, or merely frowned upon now? I am fairly sure it has to be an opt-in thing, but could be mistaken there...

I used to work for BT for a few years, and still have several friends within their management, so will be asking what is happening tomorrow...

WOO! You know, I used to use Samknows when I worked at BT, as it was more informative than the internal BT site, but forgot about it since leaving... Thanks for the reminder! just bookmarked it again! :)

Even better, the date for my exchange being enabled is not far off! -

A bit late but I'm having problems too.

I believe it's due to AOL shifting the UK users to another provider. You might've noticed that your IP's changed from 172.xx.xx.xx to 92.xx.xx.xx. Mine was transferred a few weeks ago and my line has been incredibly unstable ever since. Ironically on the genuine AOL connection I was getting my full 8mbps without any drop outs.

A college mate of mine has gone the opposite way :) his 172.xxx line always dropped out and now his 92.xxx line is solid, just crappily slow. Remote desktop is awful over it :)

I Imagine they will sort their problems out, but being AOL i do not expect it to happen soon. Also hopefully they are static / more static IPs than before, as banning people from sites was a nightmare :)

Be* / O2 is very popular at college also, good speed, great customer service (via Be*) and not overpriced, just bad for anyone who is :
a) stuck in a contract with another isp.
b) wouldnt receive any benefit of ADSL2.

:) oh well, ill keep hoping :)
