View Full Version : Physx Cards
Hi guys!
Work related question here...
How many of the people in here have a physx card? How many would like one and how many knows what one actually is?
Please let me know what you think. Also does anywhere currently sell them?
Please PM me with any current links to e-tailers so I can see how much they retail for.
Jon
Ok guys,
I've found somewhere that sells them. Now is anyone interested in buying one?

Just curious, why the quiz?
I debated one a while ago, but with "Havoc" being launched I thought I'd wait. That and fundage being a little bit of an issue... It doesn't make an enormous difference to games, from what I have seen (a friend has one, and we've compared with and without the card in). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think it worth the cash outlay for it. Havoc does pretty much the same, but is software based rather than another PCI card, requiring yet another slot on the mobo. And isn't it all heading towards being incorporated into either the CPU and/or GPU anyway?
That depends, I'm trying to find out how much they generally retail for... so far I've found approximately £80 to be current retail price
All will become clear soon :)
I have one and on games that are coded well to take advantage of them they do work, they don't always give a boost in FPS but they also give extra detail at similar frame rates, the main game i have played that seems to make the most use of a physx card is GRAW2.
The new UT is supposed to have a patch to take advantage of a Phsyx card but i have no idea whether or not is out yet or what difference it makes to the game as i don't have it.

Does it need a PCI / PCI-e slot?
Or just buy a Nvidia 8 Series card. Nvidia have bought out the company that makes the cards (Ageia (http://techreport.com/discussions.x/14137)) and all current series 8 are going to have physx support added with a software download! :P
Not very often we get anything for free!
