Hey guys,

just wondered if anyone got any nice camera kit for christmas?

My parents got me these:

Loving the new bag, really well thought out & made. Haven't tried the lens cleaning thing yet though :)

So, what did you get?

Nice, someone was very generous to you this christmas then?! :)

I'm after the sigma 10-20mm as my next lens :)

Hehe indeed, me :D. I am very generous when it comes to buying new toys for myself. That and all the overtime i have been doing at work the past few months meant i had some unexpected extra funds :thumb:.

Its a bit of an expensive addictive hobby isn't, probably more so than pc's, though i think (hope) i have the main pieces of glass for the forseeable future. At least they won't be out of date in 6 months time unlike pc hardware lol.

Bought me self an interfit ex150 triple head kit off the bay.... Still toying with which trigger set to get... Also dreaming of a Sigma 10-20mm, but mega expensive for Nikon.... Might sell up for a Canon, cheaper lenses!!

The sigma's about £350-£400 (seems to fluctuate!), i did have the funds saved for it, but had a large tax bill so had to use the funds to go towards that! :(

I borrowed a Sigma 10-20mm from a friend for a few months, it's a nice piece of kit. In the end I bought a Sigma 24mm f1.8 because I wanted the extra speed.

Bought the wife a Canon EF50mm f/1.8 lense - getting some really nice closeup shots with it, great for depth of field stuff :thumb:

Got my old Olympus E-3 and the Zuiko 50-200mm SWD replaced with a new 50-200mm SWD and the new E-5 - from Olympus for free.
The old parts were damaged by the carrier when they tried to return the stuff from Olympus Service dept. - very nice xmas present from Oly :D

But I've sold everything digital and be with analogue only.

Personally i don't really need anything wider than 24mm as my main interest is wildlife photography so longer range is more important, the 24-105 is more a walkabout / general use lense.

I've got the standard canon kit lens & a 55-250 lens for wildlife & sport. The wide angle lens is the one i really want though! :)

I used to have a 55-250is and, for the money, you really cannot find better imho. I found 90% of the time it was fine for my needs when i went on safari, but my main subject is photographing birds (as we don't get many wild elephants etc in the uk ;)) for which i needed a little more range as more often than not i needed to crop, quite heavily at times, to get a reasonable picture.

Its horses for courses though, if like yourself i did more landscape then i'd certainly be looking down that end of the range, 10mm must be damn near fish eye??

Crikey, thats an expensive piece of glass isn't it?

@mac124: Yeah, i'm really impressed with the 55-250is, especially with the relatively cheap price of it. I do get good use out of it, but landscape is really where my heart lies and the sigma 10-20mm has really good reviews. :)

too bad that the 50mm 1.2 had some CA problems.... would have been better with a Version II

Ye the 50 1.2L is quite expensive around £1100

Well I bought myself a 85mm 1,2L II :)

85mm for £1400 from Hong Kong though ^^

I love the Tamrac Velocity and LowePro Slingshot bags for quick access to big lenses while walking. The Slingshots are super comfortable. Although the Velocitys pack bigger lenses.

The 10-20mm Sigma is very good landscape lens. I use it on a GH2 in manual. Hardly needs to be focused. I got it cheap off ebay with broken AF motor.
