Quad Graphics Cards

Hi Everyone,

I have recently decided to purchase a new machine and thought to maybe go with the the new SLi technology and Dual Core CPU.
I was looking at the
Corsair 1GB XMS2-5400 DDR2 SDRAM Xtreme
(but two of them)
and the
AMD Athlon 64 FX62+ Retail AM2 2.80GHz

now I was wondering if these three things would fit on an
ASUS M2N32-SLI DLX nF590 Socket AM2 2x

Yes it is, money isn't an issue and nor are the components \"set\" so I am willing to change the motherboard or anything else...

BIG no no on the FX-62. An Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 is what you want!! And Aira have them OEM in stock now! It is cheaper and better than the FX-62. Also if you want SLi you may have to look around at newer i975X chipset boards with support for the core 2 duo, but it is well worth it.

I still have no clue about PCI-E and how they fit on the boards or which board to buy to get them to fit on the board.... and the reason I want an AMD CPU is because they overclock alot better than intels chips.

Well, I have a budget of about £3200 and I want the best of the best in my machine..... some one give me advice... this is just confusing me... :(

I'm with Michael on this one, the Core Duos are outperforming everything else on the market right now and are eminently overclockable (3.6GHz is common for the e6700 going by the many reviews I've read, and 4GHz is possible, if difficult)

Yes a Core duo 2 system is what you want

BUT

wait that little bit more - endo f this year intel have announced a QUAD-CORE release ! this will drop the price of all the core duo specs- and give u something higher to aim for...

*edit* oh and people are worried that will these quad core systems run on core duo mobos - well - chances are YES especially if it uses the intel or nvidia chipsets. (590 sli mcp would be the best bet i imagine but i havent found an intel one of these to be made yet! :evil: )

Also vista will be about at this time too so you can have a proper clean slate.. :)

I think you could build a top spec machine for £2000. the Asus boards give extra space between the PCI-E slots to allow better cooling. A good case is the thermatake Tsunami dream or the steel version Soprano also the Mambo case. These all have 2 ultra quiet 120mm case fans that moves loads of air throw the case. I use the Tsunami dream and have had no temp problems within the case. Also because the high end mobo's have passive heatsink cooling for the north and southbridge chips the case need to be able to pass air over the mobo for the passive heatsink cooling to work and that what the 120mm fans in these cases will do.

If you are using quad sli be sure to get a power supply that is upto the job. I know I have posted about power supplies in other threads but so many don't realise how important they are with power hungry graphic cards. You can never too much power on tap but too little and you are buggered and wasted your money.

If you want to buy a power supply from aria then go for the 700W FSP epsilon at just over £100. Its not as quiet as some in the reviews. The thermatake tough power 750 can be bought for £75 if you look around and I whole heartly recommend OCZ power supplies and I would go for the 700W gamexstream for around £111 to power your rig without any problems.

You have to remember using quad sli most of the power supplies on the market will just crumble and you will suffer constant lock ups.

Your either rich, and can afford to?
Stupid?
Heavily into video editing?
Or have someone else buying this for you?

You could build a AMD X2, 2GB of RAM, 7900GT, 19\" LCD, 320GB Raid
for a lot less than that.

And it would serve you well. Play all the latest games, support Vista ect...

These are crazy, crazy processors -
Why would any enthusiast choose anything else!
AMD still has it's place, that'll be with Dell and the other mass-retailers but for now if your building your own it has to be a Conroe!

As for Quad SLi graphics - wait.
