Will this card be fine to use with this motherboad?

ATI Radeon X1050 128MB PCI-E (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/ATI+Radeon+X1000+Series/ATI+Radeon+X1050+128MB+PCI-E+?productId=30082) #30082

Foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2H Intel 945G + ICH7 socket 775 Motherboard (http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Foxconn+945G7MA-8KS2H+Intel+945G+%2B+ICH7+socket+775+Motherboard+? productId=30180) #30180

I'm not a gamer so always just used onboard graphics in the past but fancy getting a graphics card for the budget system I'm building.

Thanks for your input.

Well I got the above card from Aria, but whatever I do it will not work. The fan goes on it and thats it. Can't get any VGA output.

According to a Google search, this card (PowerColor X1050) is infact a AGP card but it does not say anywhere on the box that it's a PCI-E or AGP and the manual refers to it as "PCI-E or AGP".

Now I'm stuck with disabled onboard graphics and no graphics card.

Reset the cmos to get back the onboard GFX. What operating system are you running?

I'm using Windows 2000

Does the board post or will it not boot at all?

The PC boots, just got a long beep.

It won't be the wrong connection, as AGP and PCI-e aren't interchangeable - the slots are in different places, so they shouldn't physically fit into the wrong one...

It could just be a duff card, unfortunately. Have you taken it out and rebooted to see if the onboard works fine again? (resetting the cmos obviously) :)

Got it working now, took it out, resetted the cmos and tried again. All up and running smoothly. :)

Thanks
