PHP databases etc

Ive use PHP and PHP Nuke, before with My SQL Database, for forum type stuff...Ive just set up a domain and host for a mate, although when accessing the Helm(Control Panel)...it only lets me set up an Access database...question is will this work with PHP

Ideally I wanna use PHP v4 Or Nuke...to set up a forum...very like Lucy's
Only it'l be music fan based content.

I thought it was just Access for asp and SQL for php, I could be wrong though.

Either way, you're better off with SQL anyway. Just get yourself Apache, mySQL and phpAdmin, then you'll be sorted!

ASP can easily use SQL too

In regard to PHP, i did a quick search, and it seems like you can, using an ODBC connection for example.

But, if you're using third party PHP packages like phpBB, nuke, or whatever... you'll need to check with their help/support to see what databases it supports... if it supports Access, it should say so...

Dont see why it should, apart from companies over-pricing things... its just as easy to setup MySQL on a windows box...

It has in it php, mysql and apache in one handy install, simple to use, i got sorted in about 15mins flat :)

nice and easy - Simple Machines Forum, is a good forum program, free also, different to phpbb and people like change so ! :)
