When I turn on my PC, after the Windows is starting up screen appears, sometimes Windows doesn't actually start. A black screen appears and I have to reboot the PC. Sometimes I have to do this 4 or 5 times before Windows actually loads. Also, sometimes after I enter my password on the logon screen, a black screen appears instead of the desktop. When I get into the desktop after rebooting, this error message appears:

C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt The error says blue screen, but no blue screen actually appears, only a black screen with nothing on it does. There are some days where it starts up as normal on the first attempt without a black screen, but that's not very often. I've persevered with this for a while, but it's becoming more frequent, so I thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas. Cheers guys :)

My only guess would be to try a repair install, although you may want to check some of the hardware out by using tools such as memtest, and furmark.

after the login screen, when the black (or any other) screen appears, try CTRL + ALT + DEL to get to the task manager. Look if explorer.exe is running & if it is nothing is happening, end the process and start a new task - explorer.exe

this will not fix the issue, but maybe you won't have to reboot the pc
