I recently built a PC for someone, using the above mentioned motherboard, however, i'm having an issue with the HDMI audio encoder driver in windows XP home, the user requested XP home specificly.
every time i install the driver for it, i then end up with conflicts beteen the DVD-RW drive, the sound card, and a motherboard resorce(forgot what, but off the top of my head, it controls the order in which drivers are loaded or something). uninstalling the driver doesn't solve the issue, but using system restore to roll back before i installed it works.
anyone ever encounter this problem before?
for a mATX its a damn fine mobo, even has AM2+ for the quadcores.
I have that board and im not seeing this issue, Updated the bios to 0310?
also try the lastest driver http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N-VM_HDMI/NVIDIA_HDMI_v1006.zip

yup, same problem
before you ask, i also downloaded the latest sound card drivers from the Asus site, latest HDMI audio encoder driver, and LG update flashed the firmware on the DVD-RW, also, downloaded and installed all the windows update components. 1 thing i didn't update though was the chipset driver, was getting a very poor download rate so canceled it.
IMO, its no big deal, the system functions fine without this 1 driver installed, and he's not going to use the HDMI, just the DVI, i just hoped to have it fully working.
have yu disabled the internal codec in the bios and set it to external ? or vise versa
edit yeah the speeds are appauling :s

you think thats the problem?
unfortunately, the guy'll be here to pick it up within the hour, so... i'm just going to give it as is, i've ordered the same mobo for myself, so if i experience the same problem, i'll play with that, and if i solve it, i'll tell him how to fix it, he is computer technical, and only got me to build him the PC because he's too busy with moving house to bother with it.

same problem in my new 1 with Windows MCE, will play with it a bit
EDIT:
Same problem, exact same problem. installing the driver for the HDMI Audio encoder causes conflicts. you can disable it in the BIOS by changing the audio codec from Int+Ext to Ext only, but... i'm guessing the HDMI Audio will not work if you do that.

ok, here we go.
i actually connected this computer to my new screen which has HDMI, to do this i had to change jumper settings on the motherboard.
i re-turned on the HDMI audio codec, and installed the driver, and, it worked!
however, it screwed up sound card functions, it hands all volume control and mixers to my screen, so, i'd rather stick to my DVI.
i turned it off again in BIOS, and reset the jumpers to DVI, and, even with the driver installed, no problems
so... final notes: basicly, you need to be using the HDMI when you install the HDMI audio codec to get around these problems, if you're not going to use it, simply turn it off in the BIOS.
