nice! can you let me know how quiet it is compared to your cm690, i'm tempted by the 600T becuase i can get my rad in the top on it and have the fans covered up too. which i cant do on a cm690

I probably wont be able to tell because the new Sharkoon fans are a lot louder than the older Noiseblockers that were in there. Plus I used to run my 690 with the side panel off.

please dust everything off :P looking good

Will be doing it tomorrow or saturday! I normally take my computer to work once a month and get the compressor on it :D

Nice build, I love the WDCB drives

They are good drives. I had them in RAID0 until I got my SSD'd, now they are used as storage drives while I have the SSD's in RAID0 :D

Great fan's too I have them and cannot fault them at all.

The Sharkoon 2000's are loud

I have put them on my heatsink ready to save some time, they are a lot louder than my old Noiseblockers! Glad I ordered the 1000's for case fans!

Yeah the CM690 :)

Might as well sell it as it will only be left gathering dust in the attic :(

Dont know to be honest mate. It has some scratches where I sprayed it black and the side panel has been taken on and off. Also behind the mobo tray where I used black electrical tape to hold the cables some of the paint has come off when I removed the tape. You cant see any of them when all the components are in though :)

You do know its the Original CM690 and not the CM690 II yeah?

Nathan94
23-12-10, 20:43
They both still look the same? But the original has no wiring cut outs?

Mr Moose
23-12-10, 20:48
The 690II has a removable drive bay (so you are left with just the top two) and some better cable management.

Oh and the hot swap bay

Yeah thats the differences I've heard. The back panel was a bit tight thats one of the main reasons I got the 600t, it has plenty of room behind the mobo tray and I will most likely be going water cooling next year :)

Mr Moose
23-12-10, 21:05
I have the advanced 690II, but so wanted the 600T. As for watercooling, I think the 600t might have problems fitting a RAD on the top, inside of the case, as it might be a tight fit.

240 rad in top of a 600T fits fine

Seems that a 240mm rad fits ok after looking through the 600t club on another site. The 800D and 700D are the best for water but as I've never done it before it would only be a basic setup anyway.

lol I dont know whats up with the camera. Sometimes the pictures come out great and other times they go blurry

Also, any idea where I can mount the SSD's. I can use 1 HDD rack for the 2x WDC's but want to remove one to create more airflow.

lol I dont know whats up with the camera. Sometimes the pictures come out great and other times they go blurry.

First, look before you post and don't use any too blurred.

Second, I read a good suggestion here some time ago, set the camera to "flowers", or whatever your camera calls it.

Sets it to close up.

Whatever you do, try to avoid using flash. Gets nasty reflections.

The CM690 has some holes for the PSU cables. You can see whaere the paint has come off around the edges from the panel:

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh109/ToonArmy47/Comp%20pics/100_0414.jpg

I also made a small cut on the mobo tray ridge for the 24pin cable to go in so that the side panel goes on properly (sorry about blurry pic)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh109/ToonArmy47/Comp%20pics/100_0415.jpg

As for price, maybe £35 posted

Dont really know what it is worth tbh, im just going off an appraisal someone else had off another site...

23-12-10, 23:50
Ayee. I was considering a coolermaster elite 430 case. I'd love it, but it needs holes drilling for cable management, what tools/method do you need for it?

It looks pretty good without cutting any holes. Here is a very old pic with my old 4850 and before I had blue SATA cables

I read in a few places people saying that the quality of the NZXT extensions was very poor but I think they are great. I didnt have the time to do all the sleeving myself so went for the easier option. They are a bit stiff at first but with a bit of bending and flexing they are fine :D

shame you never had the side on your 690 to compare temps to the 600 as my temps go up when I take a side off mine.

GJF47
01-01-11, 15:51
I did have the side panel on most of the time but took it off for the last few weeks. The temps were around the same if I remember correctly. I will probably be putting one of my Noiseblockers in the 5.25" drive bay to see if that makes any difference but temps are fine as they are at the moment, its around 47-48c during Prime95 which is expected for a C2 955be @ 3.6

Really? I didn't realise it was there until I looked at the pics after it was all together, the lighting in my room is awful :(

EDIT: Any idea why the thread title hasn't changed? It has changed when I go to 'Go Advanced' when editing the first post but it is still showing as the old one in the forum view?

Don't think you can change the title of your thread, a mod must do it.

Nice build :) gunna pop down the shop later today and pick me up a nocula of some sorts I think. Get some decent pictures of it whilst I'm there ;) rushed to get it up and running,

You gave it a shot at overclocking yet?

Official specs are around 12.2kg I think. Feels pretty light when its empty, it weighs quite a bit now though :D

Finally my stuff came back today :D

I also ordered 2 sets of the NZXT LED White cables but sadly I can only use 1 due to the capacitors on my board being in the way of the only free slot left :(

Sorry for the poor pics but the lighting in my room is awful. Will get some decent shots when I've got the LED's sorted and figured out a way to use both of them

Very nice build there mate. I was considering this case myself. What's your thoughts on the case?

GJF47
05-02-11, 11:46
The case is great mate, I love it. So much room inside and at the back to hide cables! The White Edition is coming out soon and that looks great as well. They will be releasing a windowed side panel for it soon which will look even better :thumb:

Are those braided PCIe/ATX power cables DIY or ready to go extensions?

A Ginger Sheep
17-02-11, 01:42
their the nzxt extensions

Serhan
17-02-11, 11:32
Hmmm...that would solve my prob with the OCZ Failtality 750W PSU which has to short PCIe cables.

GJF47

Yep they are NZXT Extensions. I wanted to do the sleeving myself but didnt have the time/patience :D

You've had the Cooler Master CM690II advncd. before don't you?
Can you please tell me the space between the right side panel and the mainboard tray (backside) of the Corsair compared to the Cooler Master - I'd need a case with more space for the cable management.

GJF47
17-02-11, 12:07
I had the original CM690 mate. The space difference in the Corsair is huge, especially using all the extensions I would never get the side panel on my old case! Thats the main reason I went with the Corsair. It has at least 1.5 inches behind if not more where as the CM690 had around 1/2 inch maybe. It really is a very easy case to work with mate :thumb:

17-02-11, 12:24
Thanks for the info mate, sounds GREAT :D
I'll consider the 600T when changing the case - lets see how the new 650D performs. Should be available in March and I expect reviews of it soon.

GJF47
17-02-11, 15:49
The 650d looks great as well. Not sure how much room there will be at the back for cables though. If it has as much room as the 600t or more, I may sell my case and pick one up as I prefer the look of the 650d tbh. Or I may get the White Edition 600t :D

OK a bit of an update today. Ordered the ASUS P67 Sabertooth to replace the B2 revision ASUS P8P67 PRO, which arrived this morning so I decided to change it after work. Pics are a bit rubbish due to crap lighting in my living room and a poor camera :D

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh109/ToonArmy47/Comp%20pics/Sabertooth%20Apr11/100_0534.jpg

Had to do a bit of adjusting as the PCI-e slots on the Sabertooth are lower than on the PRO so I couldn't get the bottom GPU in with the HDD rack where it was next to the PSU

Next plans are for a GTX580 to replace the 5870's, a new 8gb RAM kit and possibly a new cooler to replace the NH-D14 so that it goes better with the colours in the case. Also still got 2 sets of NZXT Sleeved white LED's here to fit if I can figure a way to hide the cables :)

580 is slight worse than 2 x 5870's but I want to go back to a single card after having issues with xfire like I said here:

http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57235

The D14 is a great cooler but it looks so ugly in there. I want a nice black one to replace it or maybe a H70.
