This would be a boost for AMD for sure!
with the way xfirex works it is possible to have sli on those chipsets but the drivers wont allow it.
s***ter init, imagine 2 98gx2's in a x38 atm??? kickarse machine.
Read it again;
"Nvidia May Have to Drop or Open SLI Due to Issues with Processor Bus License"
nVidia aren't going to drop SLI and they will want to keep making chipsets for Intel CPUs
They'll either have to let Intel make SLI chipsets or they stop making chipsets themselves...
Which will be the biggest blow to nVidias chipset business? Someone else making SLI chipsets, or not supporting that latest fastest CPUs.
However - with the speculation that nVidia may buy AMD (and therefor ATi) it's possible that nVidia and Intel will fall out in a big way!
Instead of both CPUs and platforms being compatible, it could end up with two distinct and very different companies creating everything - either all Intel or all nVidia... Which would certainly shake things up a bit...
However, this is all if they can't agree over the whole SLI license debarcle - perhaps they'll work out a solution and everyone will live happily ever after!
Nvidia will not buy Amd, they cannot because that would be a monopoly, the US government would actually prohibit the purchase...

Nope - Intel actually make more GFX chips than nVidia or ATi - think of all the MoBos with onboard GFX...
