i have an intel core 2 duo E4500 running 2.6ghz. 6400 800mhz ram and an asus p5wdh deluxe. just wondering what speed would be safe to go up to.

idle temp 25 degrees celcius
100% load temp 47 degrees

My E4500 is at 3.3ghz and thats because i wanted to keep temps nice and cool. Get an Arctic freezer 7 Pro, I could go upto 3.6 with watercooling, but we will see, I want to make my chip last so only a 50% overclock from me.

Try and get it upto 2ghz, if you can unlink ram, thats a bonus, allows greater overclocking.

no idea how to unlink ram and cant get it faster then 2.6 safely
thermal shutdown takes place when i run TAT load test
2.6 hits 50 degrees celcius

50 degrees isnt too much, mine can reach 72 degrees on TAT, but normal usage it never gets that high temps.

I'm always idling around 35 degrees, when under load i've reached around 50. This is overclocked though, when at stock the temperatures are so low you couldn't keep red wine :)
