So looking at Mrs. Limettes (http://forums.aria.co.uk/member.php?u=14703) computer

shed deleted the short cut to the recycle bin

upon re-doing the short cut

and checking the amount of stuff in there

there was 907 items totalling 9.55GB's

anyone else got any recycle bin horror stories? :)

So did I! D'oh! :chairfall:

I typically don't keep things in my recycle bin though. Probably the most it's ever had in it is when I'm clearing out a load of stuff at once, but then I empty it immediately afterwards. It's never built up over time.

I'm not sure of how big it's got though while doing that, perhaps 30 GB at most if I've been tidying up my folders after working on a graphics project of some sort.

I usually shift delete things so it rarely gets big at all. Only trouble is when you accidentally get rid of something you wanted...

I permanently delete straight away (RB option) so I dont have to worry about sizes :)

Fixed a machine that had 3,274 items in recycle bin and 9,675 in IE cache.
I had to boot to a live CD to clear it.

I always empty it after I delete files. It's not hard to forget in 7 and Vista? as the icon changes from empty to with files in.

Same. Or I move things to my /tmp folder on linux as it gets wiped on reboot.
