View Full Version : Another Memory question
I am not sure whether i have high spec ram or run of the mill ram. Currently using OCZ SLi ready PC2 6400 mem 2x2gig. think i have sli on but clocked @ 0% if that makes sense...
When i bought the board (striker ) i checked what mem it would need and noiticed 800mhz, so i bought what i thought was the fastest mem the board could handle........
Right or Wrong ???????
I also have 4x1 Gb of Corsair XMS PC2 6400
Quite willing to get shot of all and buy some better Mem if i can and with the right advice.
Thnx
I don't know if this may affect you. but my housemate had problems with his sli ram when he had a quad core on this same board. he solved it by turning it off in the bios and manually overclocking it. this is also what I do. when my house mate over clocked too much. he would then have to insert non sli ram into the board in order to get it to boot. I'm not saying this affects your board, but it may be similar symptoms
what does it say the ram is running at in the bios. mine for some reason defaults to 667
I would hope that the dividers in the bios could run alot faster memory, even my vanilla P5B can run 1000mhz memory just by altering the bios dividers.

Mine is running @ 800.00
Really i am abit dubious about overclocking the machine. I have this thought that the more u overclock and make it work harder then the less time it will last. It runs all games etc pretty damn quick so I suppose i should just leave it as it is.
Only addition will be another GPU. spent a fortune already :P
+ i don't have water cooling which i have read is highly recommended..
Saying that my temps are pretty low 32* CPU and 34* system..
Cheers guys
