not that i'm really that bothered, but not our time for the world cup.

russkies got 2018 and qatar got 2022. how many backhanded deals do you reckon got them those?

a quote i read on the sporting life

Recently we have been criticised by many media outlets. Unfortunately for them FIFA is a clean institution

that really made me laugh, although nothing has ever been proved - fifa is one of the most corrupt and immoral organisations going. no smoke without fire so to speak and the court cases didn't happen for the fun of it. :cop:

Russia have been favourites for a while. And if you look at the winners to host 2010 and 2014, it's not mch of a surprise.

Shame.

Fair enough.
I agree it's no surprise, however, Russia would have still won without the corruption allegations in my opinion.

Russia would have still won without the corruption allegations in my opinion.I think that to, and in a way I'm glad. I don't think we'll have a good team in 2018, worse than the chumps we have now so I think it would just be extra disappointment. Maybe one day we will have a half decent side and then genuine chance of winning it on home soil.

if they'd really want to clean it up - they would have done by now. but it's the power of suggetive threats/power/ill-gotten gains that keep them going and the status quo as is.

I read some football forums and a lot of them are acting like spoilt brats about England not winning.

"44 years without a world cup in England" and stuff similar to that. Well I think Russia has waited erm...let me work it out...oh yeah they have never hosted one.

Perhaps they selected a country that might actually have a chance of winning the cup. <GD & RLF> ;) (No need to point out that Wales haven't even qualified since 1958)

Here are the full results. It only needed two rounds for Russia to win. Quite a convincing victory then.

Round 1: England 2 votes, Netherlands/Belgium 4 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 9 votes.

Round 2: Netherlands/Belgium 2 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 13 votes (Russia obtain absolute majority)

What gets me is that in round two, the Netherlands and Belgium bid losdt two votes in favour of Russia

notice england had least votes

ThunderFlash

Yeah, and one of the votes would have been from the English rep.

So only one was really convinced by the bid....

hah how did someone manage to work immigrants into this thread?! Russia did have a good bid, didnt think england would get it, but surprised they came last. the corruption in FIFA might enjoy the mafia corruption in russia...just watch the money disappear!

It's not overly surprising.. Russia were the favourites all along. I guess it's a little galling that we came bottom in the very first vote. but hey ho.. it's better watched on tv anyway..

It looks like they're spreading it around a bit, however, the Qatar vote does smack of some back-hand deals going on.

Ah well, there's always next millennia. :)

Not a loss more of a victory.... We would never get all of the supporters to leave..... Once in the country we would be screwed.... No one ever seen Passport Patrol?!?
Won't be travelling to Russia for the finals mind, looking at several thousand miles between games.... :censored: that!!

The only problem here is that we accused FIFA of being corrupt.......then failed to pay them off.... !

hi its a slam dunkthe russians would get it for in my opinion,

its to do with politics and that fact that they probably paid of the reps first,

or at a guess in night be to do wit the north koria problem.

or the americans intervined with chioce as a matter of world peace

but these are just my opinions, slightly out there i know but who,s to know how the russians won.

just my thoughts, ha ha . paul

Fifa - One of the most corrupt agencies in the world.

Only they are capable of handing a world cup to Qatar.

Personally I'm glad we didn't get it, there is far too much money spent on chasing far-fetched and frankly unlikely goals.

Let's face it, if we did win it there was NO WAY that we could possibly have made any money doing it. If we had a budget set now, knowing the English it would've been spent 5-10 times over by the time we got to the tournament, and any net-gain would be wiped out before we start. (How much are we overspent on the Olympics already?)
