View Full Version : Edimax AR-7284WnA Router & Xbox 360
Hi All,
Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this.
I have an Edimax AR-7284WnA Wireless N lite Router (Won on these Forums! - Thanks Aria!) that i have been using with my Sky Broadband with no issues, until i connected my new Xbox 360. No matter what i do, i can't get the the 360 to connect to live through this Router, i have connected the original sky piece of &*%$ back up and the 360 connects immediately!
I've tried Upnp etc but can't figure it - anyone got any ideas?
Thanks In Advance! :thumb:

have you done an xbox live connection test?
what is it failing on when it cant connect, does it give you an error?
are you wired or wireless from your xbox?
I have done a connection test, it just says that it's unable to connect.
Tried wired and wireless. Also tried port forwarding! Don't get it!

Right dude id check these:
1: have your xbox wired
2: go to connection settings on the xbox and make sure it is all set to automatic for ip and dns
3: on the router check nat is open if possible
4: on router check that mtu is large enough (about 1500 if u can find it)
5: on router port forward for the xbox
Read a review of the router and it seems pretty good, lots of features on it but the review said wireless wasnt that strong.
With all the features on the router i would make sure that is set up properly, this sounds like this is the issue.
You should have dmz on the router, put the xbox in the dmz and then test see if you can connect
Added after 3 minutes:
just read some issues on the net dude:

looks like an issue with the firmware of the router, email the company and they should send you some modified firmware that will solve the issue for you
try it
Cheers Gray, i have updated to v1.05 and then to v1.06 Firmwares to try to resolve but still no go...., but with the info you've found i've emailed Edimax aswell now.
I will update if / when i hear anything!
Thanks
