View Full Version : 1080p from my PC to Widescreen telly : DVi to HDMI
Hi All
I own the the following video card : ASUS Geforce 6800 Gamers Edition, it has DVi out and I wanted to connect it to my large widescreen Tv and get HD video at 1080p.
Can you please recommend a cable that I need to use to connect the 2 together.
Are these cables bi-directional? (dvi to hdmi or hdmi to dvi )
Will this cable do :

Cheers
That cable will do what you want :)
That cable would be fine. which tv is you have?
Some tv's dont accept pc input from hdmi. eg my samsung only allows pc input via vga not hdmi.

Hoe does it tell that the HDMI cabe is connected to a PC?

Not Sure but in my manual and when reading other sites it does state that some screens wont accept pc thru hdmi.
as i say though might just be samsungs :(
my samsung r88 worked fine with a dvi to hdmi cable, vga is better quality but a lowe res though (1368x768 iirc)
Damn must just be the ps42q96/7's then :(
You have to make sure the 6800 has HDCP or the TV wont accept signals from an HDMI cable.
HDCP=High Definition Copyright Protection:)

Would a cable which says HDMI to DVi work on my requirement which is the other way around ie DVi to HDMI ?
