View Full Version : Compatible SLi Cards
I bought a XFX Fatal1ty 8800 GTS card from Aria with the intention of buying another to Sli them in the near future. Well the Near future has come but it's seem u have none in stock and it seems that there very had to find anywhere else. SO this leads me to this question.
Can i SLi using another card ?????? Advice please if it's possible and what would be best buy. Not feeling that flush !! ;o)
As long as it is the same gpu, ie 8800gts, it should work. Doesn't matter if it isn't the exact same make of card, it will only run as fast as the slowest card though so if one is overclocked and one stock the oc one will be underclocked.
Don't blame me if it doesn't work though but it SHOULD theoretically.
LOL i like ur style Mac.
Thanx for info tho.
Will u accept returns if it's not compatible ???
ah also what about the mem size do i have to stick to 320mb ???? or can the 2nd card be bigger ??
I would stick to a 320 just to be on the safe side.

IIRC, you can SLi anything with the same GPU, but it'll reduce the speed to the lower stats. so, if you lets say has 2 8800GTS cards, 1 at 1900MHz and 1 at 1800MHz, 1 with 320MB of 600MHz ram, and another 1 with 512MB of 575MHz RAM, then both cards would be reduced to 1800MHz with 320MB of 575MHz RAM. However, i havn't read anything on SLi for several months, you'd be best off going for the same GPU and RAM atleast, the speed will definitely be compatable, and be reduced to that of the slower card.
