I've got an Acer 5739G..is there a way to change the HD to an SSD Drive..and also change the gfx which is currently a GT130M?

You can change the HDD easily but the gfx is usually intergrated so for that I'm gonna say no

What he said, HDD easy, graphics basically impossible.

If it is a card that fits on to your motherboard then more than likely you can change it?

IDK if an Acer have them though.

As above, a hard drive is plug and play. Just take out the old one and replace.

That is one good thing about Dells.

Only thing to watch about a new HDD in a laptop is the thickness, some laptops don't support the larger capacity drives as they can be thicker. Same applies to SSDs, pays to check before purchasing.

They break often also :(

Usually laptops only have space for a single 2.5" drive. So if you wanted additional storage I'd suggest an external USB drive. Or I guess you could buy a caddy for your current drive.

I swapped the HDD in my Acer laptop for a SSD - took the best part of 5 minutes! :)

Actually, I've been finding that a lot of the larger (15.6"+) laptops have room for two 2.5" drives. Don't forget that if you do replace your only internal drive with a SSD and have to run everything off of USB2, just how slow USB2 can be.

As an aside, this is one thing I'm actually looking forward to of USB3 in the near future. Reasonable hard drive transfer speeds.

Totally agree there Korlus, USB3 in laptops can't come soon enough.
