I have 4 Pcs which are connected Via a Gigabit switch that supports Jumbo Frames.
I am of the understanding that Jumbo Frames will improve the transfers on my network.
All my but one of my PCs support Jumbo frames,
The Board that does not is a server (Windows 2003) running on an Nvidia chipset (7050/630a). The Motherboard has a Gigabit Network support built in but according to the manufacturer does not support Jumbo frames. But this port is a PCI-E device.
I have a spare PCI Gigabit network card that supports Jumbo Frames.
So will I get better performance with the onboard with out Jumbo Frames or the NIC with?
The thing in my mind is the PCI bus bandwidth compared to PCI-E
The Spec:-
Antec Atlas + Hiper Type R 530W
7050/630a motherboard
Amd 3800+ X2 Freexer 64 Pro
2Gb Ram (2x1Gb)
4x Sata HDD
IDE DVD-RW
USB Cardreader
Windows 2003 Standard Edition
