Hey all, recently been ****ed over by 1&1 (excuse my language, pretty peeved)

Im looking basically to get a new host and transfer my domains across, im not sure how it all works though. Currently got 3 domains, two .com addresses and one .co.uk, and i'd like to move them all to seperate packages. One is my mums, one is my brothers, the .co.uk one is mine. The two.com addresses don't need anything special, but my .co.uk im running a phpbb3 board and site.

So, im just interested to see what the best way of doing it is.

Thanks in advance guys, and gals obviously

UKReg are good, as are Fasthosts.. I use a company called Site5 in the USA. Very good prices and features!

i recently got a VPS from webfusion.co.uk, good service, excellent support each time i've opened a ticket its been 1-3 hours turn around.

24/7 Support via. Email & Phone (Not just an automated machine either ;) )
£3.95/month ;)

idk about the webhosting, but on the VPS they allow full DNS control, including reverse DNS :D

i believe 123-reg.com is their sister company :)

iGoD is correct, webfusion and 123-reg are linked :)

I have domains under 123-reg and a dedicated webfusion server and two clients of mine use webfusion VPS. jHorner might be able to help you out as his VPS is well under capacity and capable of taking more sites, but he has no net at the moment (at home).

Do you happen top know how much is jhorner charging for space on his VPS?

I'm thinking about starting up a website soon, just a matter of weighing all the different options avaliable

123-Reg here. Have domains and hosting with them. It was easy to keep it in the same place.

Well, cheers for the advice so far people
webfusion seem to be the cheapest so far.
£3.95 per month, with a free .co.uk domain and php support

Can anyone find anything cheaper?

EDIT: ahh ****, limited to 20gb a month, dunno if id ever break that, but still, its a pain.

Basically all i need is 1 package with sql/php support and a .co.uk domain as cheap as possible

And another one with literally nothing but with a .com address.

I have both the domains on 1&1 already, so i have to pay to have them transferred across

Well, that's just under £50/year

Considering you can buy a .co.uk domain name for £5.98 (2 yrs, 123-reg), minus that equals £44.41/year spent on your hosting package.

You can get cheaper than that in most places, Streamline has 500MB of space + unlimited bandwidth for £36.65/year,

per month always sounds cheaper but it really isn't :/

ovh.co.uk?

its main company is french and runs telephone and broadbrand lines in france. it has like 1 or 2 of its own datacenters, probs more.

i always buy domains from there since they always have deals on like they had free .co.uk's a while back.

hosting was good for the few months i was on untill my mate offered me free hosting so yeah.

:D

Perhaps they do what your after, they are who provide my hosting but i rarely use it, im just learning really :)

Their bottom tier package is free + setup cost (£9 i think?)
