just put in new mobo and processor and reinstalled windows xp pro. something is now blocking update install. any ideas?

when on windowsupdate.com does the update get stuck on the progress bar?
Any errors?

error code 80080008. i can't find this one anywhere.

Error Code 80080008 is CO_E_SERVER_STOPPING.

If you are runnign SP1 then you can download the full distro of SP2 from here

Hopefully that should fix the problem :)

If not you can also try using Dial-a-fix
