Hi all,

Anyone of those using the Galaxy S know of a good application backup and restorer?

I want to

Backup my apps,

lag fix

then factory restore my phone.

then have all my apps and their settings put back.

Cheers.

This is an android phone right? Can't you use Apps2SD to install all your apps to your SD card, so that when you restore the phone it still has all the apps?

It is an android phone yes.

I take it that replies on having an external sd card?

Yeah, or a partition of the internal storage space designated for applications I think. I've never used it so I'm not sure.

Titanium Backup is probably the best one to use.

And the only one that will do that IIRC. Great suggestion. You'll need a root first.

Excellent.. So how to root my phone, i've tried the one click lag fix, which tries to root first, and got an error about e-signature or something.

Any other ideas?

You're having that problem because your phone firmware has recovery 3e built in. This only allows signed packages, whereas the older recovery 2e that comes with older firmware releases allows any.

You'll need to use ODIN to flash the kernel to one with recovery 2e. There is a thread over on XDA about that if you have a search. If I find my bookmark I'll post it up.

hmmm.. flashing kernals seems a bit extreme.. just to run a backup application..

I shall have a think..

Think i covered that on the later pages on my thread. Look at the 2.2 rooting guide

Found the instructions.. thanks..

However.. what's ODIN? apart from a norse god. :)

OK got there in the end.. Have no installed titanium backup.. but it gives me thousands of things to backup

Should I backup all of them..

I'm mainly trying to backup,

WAP settings
email accounts
some of my apps
text messages
contacts

.. before I factory reset and lagfix..

Any ideas about what to choose??

EDIT : It's ok i found a guide..
