If you NEED a 4 in 1 then by all means go for them but please throw the psu away and spend £30 on a GOOD branded psu as generic ones like the one that will come will that case will be grossly over rated and maywell die and kill other components. Better makes have built in protection so that doesn't happen, and they tend to be able to supply a constant 450watt when advertised not 450watts peak which is likely on the psu supplied in that set.

Maybe we could have this advice sent to people in an e-mail with every new forum signup?

Seems like its said every day.

A VERY overlooked piece of hardware the psu, yet in some respects it is one of, if not THE single most important parts.

Indeed. If the CPU is the 'Brain' of a computer then the PSU is the heart!

Say no to unbranded PSU's!

I know, i am worried about the PSU here, and I was going for the http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/200w+to+449w/Xilence+420W+Gaming+PSU+?productId=19868

but the budget wouldnt allow for it - i know that suppl plus a cheap case isn't a big hike in price but i thought I'll just get the 4in1 case with psu i mentioned above for now, and come Feb 1st when the money rolls in again i can go for a better PSU.

The other things i'm worried about is noise. Prefer it to be quiet so not sure how to go about that. Also I'll probably wait a couple of months before pairing the graphics card i have with an 8800 series- i'm not a heavy gamer at all, but when you see a game on the ps3 for £40 then the same on the PC for £25 it makes ya think twice, so eventually i'll use the SLi properly.

I know Intel in 'better' also, but I've always gone for AMD, theyre cheap, they'll do the job, maybe not as well as an intel but heyho. Again eventually i'll upgrade it to a 5000 or better. But i think (hope) this is generally a good-ish system to play most games even if theyre not on uber-high settings.

Thanks for all the replies though. i agree the PSU needs serious upgrading.

Why not wait until you can afford the psu and then order everything, save on postage and you won't risk your components being damaged

Wouldn't bother pairing the 8600 your buying with the 8800 your getting down the line, they will both run at the much slower 8600 speed.

Stick with a single 8800GTS 512MB or 8800GT 512MB instead of trying to SLI two unmatched cards.

SLI is really for high end gaming where every frame counts. Generally when you add a second card in SLI you only get 30% more performance which means you just wasted 70% of a card.
