View Full Version : Windows Vista Start Up Screen....
Anyone think maybe Mircosoft could come up with a better one, it looks rather boring tbh, no picture or anything just the logo :S sounds like a bodge job to me :P
They probably had a team of people to make that and possibly cost millions :D Like the london 2012 Olympics logo :D
At least the 2012 came up with somthing!
Microshaft started with a blank canvas...And finished with one!

Oh man my vista startup is messed up.
30 seconds on the scrolly bit on a Q6600, 4GB is way too long. Need a format I think got a bit messed up.
Just A Bit, Just Back Everything Up First Tho :P Or inseert the windows vista disc and run it at startup, and on the vista installation there is an option to repair windows vista startup, i hope that help :P

Hmm mine had been gradually taking longer and longer to boot. I wonder if this will fix things?
*scurrys off*
EDIT: Meh, what a waste of time, it didn't fix anything! I went over my logs and I think the Vista startup time is all in my head anyway; when I first built the PC it was 60 seconds and now its 50 seconds, so that's actually faster now than a fresh install.
HA What a fool i was buying vista! I thought ok i will learn how to use this to help other people! Yeh Yeh cannot even use my PC anymore! It just take ages to do anything! When i first had it installed it ran wonderfully then its just went pants.

Nahh, once you disable all the new Vista features its just as fast as XP :P
I have! It was fine for a week then just slowed down!
make sure that you're not running anything like windows defender or the indexing service, or system restore. turn off IPv6, turn off network auto tuning, turn off device discovery. If you want to make vista fast nlite it (vlite) and remove all of the features such as ready boost, sidebar etc, turn of all fades and leave on aero. Turn off UAC, disable the windows security center. Set the system restore size to 4 gb (if you leave it on). turn off scheduled tasks. Disable lots of services. uninstall and software you get with drivers. update your drivers via the manufacturer not windows update. turn around 3 times and pat your head on the desk. remove any DVD's CD from drives when booting down. turn off performance settings to max. over clock your pc to the highest possible value, then defrag your install. Place some games on there and your done, as good as XP :)

Probably worth noting you have to do roughly half of that to XP as well [only 1 turn and one desk pat with your head is requred also].
I love how Microsoft crams an OS with features which everyone just switches off! They really do employ a lot of useless people.

Its all organised so I have everything whether or not I think about backup.
It all runs fine once up and running but slow to boot or maybe its just me thinking it. Dont know much you can disable at boot time though :(
