I recently sent an ati x1650 pro graphics card back to aria on RMA203974.
I had an email on 2nd Jan confirming the card had been received and was going for testing. This was fine and normal practice. I telephoned a week later and they had told me to my horror that they had made a mistake. Still not a problem as they must have the card anyway. But since getting the confirmation i had cleared my desk and the proof of posting went in the bin as i was unaware at the time they hadnt received it. I have telephoned several times as my customer is getting wooried about his card and i have been told by Aria that they havent come across it yet.
I had a similar problem last year when i sent a £130 gigabyte motherboard back and Aria had lost it and i had the proof of posting but Aria found it eventually after about £27 worth of phone calls to Arias stupid 0870 number.
I am really worried about this great **** up from Aria about my RMA as now i have no proof of posting and a missing graphics card. I was having someone call me from Aria but as yet no joy.
Any help??
please?

if you go to the post office where you sent the item they keep a copy of the tracking number, so maybe you can go there and ask kindly if they can give it you again and give them the date you sent it.

Because of the cost of the card it was just about covered under standard postage up to £35-00. If it was way abouve that price i would`ve got it tracked and i could`ve gone back to the post office and asked to try and retrace it. but then again it takes i think at least 15 days if i remember right before its classed as delayed. But seeing as i no longer have the receipt due to this email then looks like i am stuffed. My only option looks like to pay out my own pocket for another card and see if trading standards can help in any way.

wait so you didnt send it recorded mail?

sorry but someone from Royal Mail would have robbed it from you. ALWAYS send stuff recorded mail unless its a letter etc..

bozmech, that is a really bad situation, I am very sorry to hear about this.

I would recommend posting the RMA you sent this back with on the forums so (hopefully) a member of Aria's customer service team can do their upmost to help you with this.

What date did you send this on? As Royal Mail do quote it can take up to 15 working days to get items sent (it sucks - but what else can we do?)

Did you pay for this with cash or via card payment? I can almost guarantee cash, as that's what everyone does, but a card payment to the Royal Mail will at least allow you to maybe link and locate this.

Again, sorry to hear about this situation, I hope it gets resolved for you!

I allways send anything back by at least recorded delivery. If it is faulty Aria refund your postage up to £10.00 anyway! So you could send it back registered.
I sent a faulty power supply back which was pretty heavy by registered post and it cost me £18.00. I got £10.00 of this back though. Better than losing it all together.

with or without your postage receipt you can claim off Royal Mail for lost post - even if you just put a 1st class stamp on it and dropped it in a post box.

Go to the post office and tell them that they've lost your package - then you'll get a form to fill in and you'll be half way there!

from Royal Mail website

What happens if your mail is lost?
If your mail gets lost, we’ll give you a minimum compensation of 12 First Class stamps. However, if there was something of value in your mail, we'll refund the actual loss, up to a maximum of £34 or up to the market value, whichever is the smaller amount. Please apply for this within 12 months.

Please note that we do not pay compensation without an original certificate of posting being produced.

so looks like if it doesn't appear you will get some stamps :(

Looks like binning the receipt was a silly thing to do...

Ah yes - but stamps are legal tender - you can pay them into your bank!

I've paid my way onto a bus before with stamps. Unfortunately I was on my way to post a letter so when I got the the letterbox I only had enough stamps to get home, *sigh*
