hi all, new to forums here so nice to meet you.

having a major problem with my rig atm. getting green dots all over the screen and an error message saying that my gfx drivers have stopped working and have restarted.

I have tried many things to cure this and none seem to work. Complete reinstall, renewed old and new gfx drivers, set memory to proper 5-5-5-12 settings at 2,0v, also set them to auto in bios, none of which has worked.

I have the latest bios on Mobo. have tried other versions etc to no avail.

the computer is 6 months old and has worked great until about 4 weeks ago when this first started to happen. The problem is random when it appears, can be at boot up or a few hours after.

The rig normally runs at 30 degrees, pushing up to 40 when on load so i don't think the temperature is a problem.

have a 2nd gfx card on way to sli them, but am reluctant to fit it until after i have this problem sorted, so any help will be very welcome.

My spec is on the signature.

oh nearly forgot, the computer will shut down after a couple of mins of the problem occuring.

thank you again for any response.

Is the system overclocked at all?

Have you ever overclocked your graphics card?

The system is not currently overclocked. It was for 1 month when i got it(cpu), but returned it to stock settings after that as didnt need the power. I have never overclocked the graphics card as didnt think it needed it.

The problem keeps happening whilst i write this so sorry if its short. 3rd attempt to post atm.

i get green dots, then error message that driver has stopped and recovered. then after a few times the blue screen of death.

I've been running Vista since it came out and not had any issues at all. I find that most people who have problems are blaming vista coz it's new.

I had a similier issue quite recently and thought like most might be vista drivers or something silmilier so i reinstalled xp and guess what... SAME ISSUE,
so reinstalled vista and took the card back new card runs sweet. not problems what so ever in vista.

Yeah i am begining to think it might be a faulty card, but it doesn't do it all the time so sods law dictates if he RMA's it it will work fine when tested at the suppliers.

Have you googled to see if there any issues with your particular card Tommo?

I must admit i had mine on test at aria for a whole day and it didn't work, took it home 20mins into playing ut3 and guess what bang off it goes.

so took it back next day and finally got it to do it there, swapped card and works a dream now.

(it wasn't caused by Tystars ridiculous overclocks to get a high 3dmark06 score was it)

Thx for replies all, i google the card and cannot find any problems listed. Thinking it may be the gfx card also. i have spoken to aria who i got the card from, and have to RMA it via the manufacturer, so may be a long time untill i get it back. Hopefully it goes wrong for them and they replace it. Certainly cannot afford to buy another and bin this one:(

Once i finally get an answer, probably in a few weeks ill post an update to say how i got on.

Thank you again all for your help:)

BTW nice picture;)
