I recently put together my build (all parts from aria) and have had some troubles from the start,

first of all i broke one of the pins on the clips that attaches the OCZ heatsink i got to the mobo, so it forever to get it on, then when i tried to install ubuntu i got memory errors, and thaught nothing of it and went to install vista, vista installed fine and was almost glitch free for a week or so, then the pc kept stalling and id get a BSOD and instant reboot, which wud then lead to it saying 'Hard Disk Error', reboot again, same error, have to reset the jumpers and it boots.

But not im getting it more and more often and it stalls 2-4 times a day!

I still cant get ubuntu to boot, so i dno whats wrong? Could it be memory, or is it because i baught a pretty poor mobo? (asrock 4coreDual-Sata2)

Im gna run memtest tonight

Thanks

Callum

Try without the damaged heatsink?

Tried to add voltage to the ram because you can get bsods from undervoltaged ram.

without the heatsink? the cpu will explode..!

My mobo doesnt allow voltage changes cos its really ****, doesnt have the option to change

By saying OCZ heatsink i thought you meant ram heatsink

Have you got the stock intel heatsink? If the ocz one is broken and not making correct contact the cpu maybe over heating, i would expect it to shut down rather than BSOD though.

What memory EXACTLY have you got? Have you checked patriots site to see what voltage it needs? It could well be being undervolted as most mobo's seem to default to 1.8v for memory

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR2/DDR2+667+(PC5300%2F5400)/Patriot+2GB+PC2-5300+Extreme+Performance+(2x1GB)+?productId=26801

i have that RAM,i hopefully going to get some thermal paste tomorrow and reset the OCZ fan.

Should i just RMA the fan, or it can i not if it was my fault its broken?
