View Full Version : Guilty pleasures - the TV shows you watch, but probably shouldn't...
Inspired by the 'recommend best TV shows' thread - what do you watch and enjoy regularly that maybe:
isn't a top show?
is really aimed at kids?
completely brainless?
pure tabloid trash TV?
For me:
The Vampire Diaries
I'm sure it's aimed at teens & young women, but I still keep watching (it's not as good as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)
and:
American Chopper
I've no real interest in the type of motorcycles they make, I just though it might be interesting to see the design process and construction techniques. However it's really naff at times - they play up the fights and bickering for the camera so much it's almost embarrassing. I've watched maybe 8-10 episodes and it's got a very distinct, predictable formula.
Diagnosis Murder... :closet:o

Emmanuelle.
Well, because I'm an adult, apparently I shouldn't be watching cartoons like Futurama, The Simpsons and Family Guy...
Family Guy is pretty much my all time favorite show
The Sarah Jane Adventures :o

I think I may have to agree!!!:weeee
Family guy? lol 90% of the jokes are aimed at people who grew up in the 80s. I doubt kids would find it too amusing.
Yeah, but it's a cartoon.

Diagnosis Murder.
Diagnosis Murder.
Good Lad :ninja:
What about things like Ugly Betty, Glee and the new one called Hellcats (although that has Aly Michalka in a cheerleader costume a lot)?

On the contrary, its probably 90% of the jokes flying over those from the 80's not the other way round.
its an adult cartoon LOL
i love family guy.
slightly cruder and funnier is Life Of Tim!
anyone seen that?

Family guy? lol 90% of the jokes are re-used in every episode.
Fixed that for ya. Family Guy is utter garbage imo.

90% of the jokes are reused? Don't be ridiculous.
Family Guy is pretty much my all time favorite show
Agree.
Sometimes its a little wrong but otherwise still funny.

"Remember that one time when..."
"Remember that one time when..."
And then after that something different happens. I fail to see your point.
Rather like the way all jokes starting with 'Yo Momma' or 'Knock Knock' are different.

Exactly, once you hear a hundred "yo momma" jokes they quickly stop being funny, especially when this example almost always leads to something completely random and out of context. I used to like Family Guy, back before Mr McFarlane lost his head up his ****, but the repetition just started grating more and more (the same reason I haven't watched The Simpsons for years and found the last few seasons of Top Gear disappointing).
I'm not saying people SHOULDN'T like Family Guy, we all have different comedic tastes, I just stated the reason why I dont.

I still love all three shows though :D
HBC networks - larry davids, curb your enthusiasm, the dodgy camera work, made up on the spot lines, and dry humour shouldn't be funny.
I find it hilarious!
I don't watch a huge amount of TV but I do like to watch Friends :o
Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show I find funny in that order. They are pretty much the same format but with different twists which open up a few more jokes which wouldn't have been doable in Family Guy.
As I said, Family Guy is great, closely followed by American Dad.. However, The Cleveland Show, I just don't find funny...
Family Guy is hardly a guilty pleasure.
Something like Merlin would be a guilty pleasure. Ahem.
