Basically I want to have my PC connected to my PS3 and TV etc, I know that I can use my PS3 to browse the web etc but the idea behind it is so I can play my LOTR online game on my large TV as opposed to my little monitor.
My PC and the modem connection are in a different room to my TV etc.
I presume I can get a router to connect the PS3 to my modem but what about the TV to the PC and actually playing a PC game? Will the PC need to be in the same room?
Any help on this would be fantastic.
Thanks
Simon
To Play PC games through your TV you will need to have the PC Connected to the TV, it is NOT possible to play pc games linked through a games console.
so in answer to your question, Yes the pc does need to be connected to the tv and in order for you to play the games yes it is likely then that your pc will need to be in the same room.

unless you can get wireless keyboard mouse with crazy range and some long cables
eg

ps. you will prob need dvi to hdmi cable presuming you have a moden tv
it's not really a networking question mate...
Basically - you'd need to connect your PC and PS3 into your internet router with a cable (RJ45) or through the wireless if your PC / PS3 / router all support it. This will allow your pc and ps3 to have internet access and share files. To play the PC through the monitor - as coiler said - you'll need a big '*** dvi / vga cable to go from your pc to the TV. But - long (good) cables are generally pretty expensive. The cheap ones from eBay result in a pretty bad signal due to lack of shielding in the cable and general cr*pness.
