I'm quite happily using the internet and bam, it'll stop working.
My powerline unit shows fine, resetting them doesn't help, resetting the router doesn't help either. The only way to fix it is to restart my PC.
The icon turns to a yellow triangle with a ! in it, stating limited connectivity.
Uninstalling the gigabit ethernet and then searching for new hardware (installing it) doesn't help either.
It's annoying restarting your PC 4 times a day just for internet.

wireless or cabled?
Guess...

It's wired, though powerline - but if I reset the powerline it's still not working.
Windows needs a restart for it to work.
Have you tried a ipconfig /release and renew?

Have you tried a ipconfig /release and renew?
No actually.
It happens on DHCP or Manual Static though, not sure if that changes anything.
If reinstalling the network stack does not work, I suspect a release and renew of IP wont work either. Have you tried eliminating the powerline and trying it fully wired? Move pc if need be. I regrettably have not played with those types of adapters (3 pin plug type) and suggest the issue is there.

Unplugging the powerline and plugging it back in again has never fixed the issue, it's always been a restart of the PC that fixes it.
It seems illogical to be the adapters from the information I've gathered.
Agreed, then so is reinstalling the network stack. This *should* fix it. Does logging off work?

Haven't tried that, I'll try it when it breaks again :thumb:
Remember the words of Sherlock Holmes... when all else has been ruled out, whatever remains - however unlikely - must be the truth ;)
I've had dropped connections on Powerlines before, but they always came back after a couple of minutes. Can you launch the admin gui for them and maybe change some settings ?

What Admin GUI?
They're NETGEAR powerlines, there is no GUI afaik.
Hmm, mine had a cd with a GUI so I could set encryption settings etc... assumed they all did :(

Mine had a CD, but I don't want encryption settings so I didn't bother with it ;)
"Netgear powerline utility" Very handy bit of software.
You can see all the plugs on the network, View the encryption and name them!

What mobo?? I have ongoing issues with certain gigabyte mobos and win7 over failing ethernet ports and wireless card operation.
They work fine under XP or Ubuntu!!!
GOS is a linux live CD that is based on Ubuntu that runs from CD without installing to your hardrive and has good auto-detection for networking.
http://www.thinkgos.com/gos/index.html
Run that from CD/DVD to see if your connection stays up then your now if it's a Hardware or Windows conflict.

This may be along shot but is your pc and homeplug on the same plug socket or extension,
homeplug's dont like extension cables/cords.
My friend had the same issue and all we had to do to fix it was move the homeplug over to another wall socket and all was well.
Also check that the network cables from the homeplugs to router/modem/pc arent borked.
