have you unplugged all items one by one and listened to beeps? mem, gfx, etc

no sound card installed, so no beeps

I have disconnected everything not needed, loosened screws on motherboard, moves all wires. I think the motherboard is somehow shorting?

Got a different PSU to try?

generic one, i don't think it's enough

the 600w should be ok to power CPU, RAM and Motherboard

If you think the mobo is shorting then rebuild it outside of the case.

Also try it with no memory in see if it beeps then (assuming it has a speaker connected / built into the mobo).

Yeah use the case speaker, unscrew the board and make sure youve got no gold pins where they shouldn't be

Working, had too many standoffs in after all

such a common fault this, ive seen so many people blow boards having the standoff in the wrong place and a critical wrong place which overloads it. Wonder if all the recent dodgy board posts are down to this lol

ps. i accept rep for the solution ;)
