I have bought some karaoke software which will support 'Dual Display'.
ie: The control panel is on 1 screen and the words for the singer comes up on a 2nd screen.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop running Vista Home Premium.

Is it just a matter of buying (from Aria ofcourse) a monitor and plugging it in or do I also need to by a 'Dual Display Card'?

I've checked Vista's diplay settings and it does appear to have the facility for 2 monitors.

However, if I do need a card for my laptop, does anyone know which one?

Cheers!

Hmm. Its a tricky one on laptops.

Normally the port on the back of the laptop is used for an external monitor rather then 2 running off the same card.

I have an old latitude C600 and it has VGA and S-Video. I used the S-Video to play a movie through a TV i had connected but if i remeber there was only a "Clone" option and not a seperate desktop.

Its a tricky one having 2 screens on a laptop. You cant change the graphics card as its a laptop and just not possible.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Anyone have any other ideas?

Use a PC 8)

Seriously, only option i can think of would be a dual output card, but it's a laptop:confused:

Do you have a pc monitor you could test it with or any friends pc's u could use the screen off whilst you test it.

if you can see the option to have split screen then you should be able to set the laptop screen as your main and the pc screen as your 2nd.

you shouldnt need any other cards to make this work.

Yup it is a tricky one, coz the last thing I'm gonna do is open the lappy up to change a card!!!I think I'll go with 'tystar' and take it round to a friends and try another monitor on it.I'll let you know how I get on with it.Thanks all

Yeah. Worth a try! Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card to have the options for it.
