HI I bought the 900 antec case and the M2N32-SLI delux motherboard. I would like to connect the fans supplied in the case to the motherboard, so I can make use of the asus q-fan2 feature.

problem is the 900 fan connectors are too big for the motherboard. tried in maplins for a converter. nothing doing. any suggestions?

thanks

You sure it's the correct place to be connecting the fans to?

Are the fans a molex type connector?

the fans dont connect to your motherboard, they connect to your PSU.

thats right!! they dont connect to the motherboard. I want them too!!. There are 4 cha_fan1 - cha_fan4 connection points on the motherboard - small 3 point male. so the motherboard provides the juice.

I got a molex to 3pin cables with my Akasa UV Blue 80mm fan, you might have?

When i was looking on the net people were saying you cant convert a molex fan to 3pin. I couldnt find a cable that would do it either.

So it might be new fans time for you. But let someone else check first. Someone might have found a way to do it?

I have one...

Googled molex to 3pin and got loads of sites that stock them

As a word of warning if it has a molex connector on it maybe the fan is quite a powerful one and possibly shouldn't be connected to a motherboard connector, check the current rating / wattage of the fans before connecting them to the mobo.

cheers Peter, good all google does the trick. whaddya know aria have them. mac124 i think i'm ok dont know much about electricity but the fans shouldnt do any damage to the motherboard if the motherboard is powering them.

Well i DO know a bit about electricity being an electronics engineer and you maybe right but some high performance fans pull alot of current and you could damage your motherboard if you overload those headers.

Your board you must do what you feel is best, but don't say you weren't warned if you fry your mobo.

Hi mac 124 heres the stats.

900 case
200 mm fan high speed input current 0.3A input power 3.6W
120 mm fan (3 of these) high speed setting input current 0.24A input power 2.9W

M2N32-SLI deluxe

cpu,chassis,power and chipset fan connectors (4 pin cpu_fan, 3 pin cha_fan1 to 4, 3-pin pwr_fan, 3-pin chip fan.

the fan connectors support cooling fans of 350mA-2000 mA (24W max) or a total of 1A - 7A (84W max) at 12V.
