Heard about it on the radio, the trailer seems pretty interesting:

It's based on what happened to this guy:

What do you guys think? Is it worth going to the cinemas?

Consider it done, because it is.

Some people at the premiere passed out during the film.

I'll be giving it a miss, sounds awful. But has decent reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1542344/
Don't get me wrong Danny Boyle has made some great films, but off the back of Slum Dog millionaire he is turning into a pretentious fool.
Ye I thought about that and it's why I asked your opinions I just think it's going to be worser than I expect but the trailers make it seem pretty interesting, guess we'll have to wait and find out whether it's good or not.

Why would a horror film make someone pass out? Scare them into a faint?
It's down to the gruesome scenes.

Yea I heard allot of people have to leave when he started cutting off his own arm lol

Meh just close your eye's, I'm kinda scared of films like paranormal activity :ss but a gory gruesome movie is nothing for me :).
Just saw it, actually was a little disappointed. Reminded me a lot of Touching the Void. I just felt that more was needed, it had just the one point of view. Him. Maybe they could have alternated between him and his family, how they were suffering, etc etc.
It was a good film but it just was fairly ongoing in the middle. He got stuck at 25 mins, he got out at 1hr 15 mins. What happened in between is much the same.
Music, cinematic and general quality of the production was excellent though, tension, drama, and some of the sounds of his arm snapping and the gristle of his arm being cut. ouch.
Anyone else?

His family wouldn't worry though, as it was only a few days and he didn't tell them that he was going there anyway, did he?
Not seen it but the impression I get is the whole film could have been done in 30minutes. It's really just a vehicle for the decision to cut your arm off, then the act of doing so.
True Hydey, but the idea was he was gone for the weekend, and had to go into work monday, and only got out wednesday afternoon. even if it didn't really happen (as much as I hate saying this), maybe a part added in would have just helped the whole atmosphere.
It's worth a watch. I only paid £6 , with student discount, not bad for cineworld...
Trailer sums up the film really. Except he escaped... lol

Great film, horrible section, but it was very important it was included.
I am very surprised with 127 had been nominated for Oscars
Heard about this on the radio, someone mailed in a comment to the effect that if you watch this in sped up and reverse it becomes an uplifting short story about a disabled man who goes out into the desert and finds a new limb :).
Not sure I'd want to spend a couple of hours of my life watching this tbh, although it is quite a story. Of course animals do this all the time, when they get their legs trapped in bear traps and the like, but it's hard to imagine having to do this yourself.
