That's right, it's coming soon, running Android of course

It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August (http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/11/exclusive-sony-ericsson-to-introduce-android-3-0-gaming-platfor/), the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread (http://www.engadget.com/tag/Gingerbread/)), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2 (http://www.engadget.com/tag/G2/), but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.

The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier (http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/11/exclusive-sony-ericsson-to-introduce-android-3-0-gaming-platfor/) is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed!Source (http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/26/the-playstation-phone/)

Interesting that they have ditched their memory stick for microSD.

Don't think I will ever forget that fiasco. Sony software is so shonky, shame really because they do good quality kit, just can't back it up.

It's doomed already. If this is the PSP2 its failed, if not its still failed. Trying to shoe horn PSP onto people via a phone is awful idea - not to mention when was the last time Sony(Ericsson) made a decent phone? About 3 years ago when they had that K750i(?) with the spiffy camera.

The 3DS will kill this, and no doubt the possible PSP2 in combined sales.

Wow what i find interesting is that is a SONY ERRICSSON phone not a SONY one.

SE has always competed with SONY so im thinking that PSP will be a playform not hardware and it would be on loads of different mobile devices and wouls be some software with an appstore... jees the gossip about apple buying SONY added to that would be just emense!

I quite like this, depending on the price tag and specs I might get one.

I can't see this compeating with the 3DS or PSP2, as they're dedicated games consoles whereas this is a phone so will be compeating against the iPhone etc.

But the iPhone isn't a dedicated phone, is it?

Well it is. The 3DS and PSP2 aren't phones.
